Hi.
A newbie question, but I could not find any answers to this one:
Are backlinks from https websites better than from http websites?
Would be grateful for an explanation.

I think they are!
Because https, of course, gives more secure and this way your content is safer and I think many programs don't give false reports
when they are analyzing the website.. This way they give clean through pages and I believe this will elevate the position of that page in search results.

I think other have a better saying about this matter.

Thanks for a reply. From what you have said, I would conclude that https websites will rank higher and have higher DA/PA than http websites. It makes sense. But what if we have 2 websites with the same metrics, but one if them is http and another https. Which would provide more quality backlinks?

Definitely HTTPS version would give better backlinks, everybody should make their domains that way if possible.

No, the DA/PA will be the same on HTTP and HTTPS. However, DA/PA is made up by Moz and doesn't actually reflect the internal Page Rank (which is no longer publicly available).

SSL doesn't affect metrics like DA but it would affect the power of a backlink.

Thank you guys.
Looks like whenever I start thinking that SEO is not that hard, it just means that I lack the knowledge.

It's not about the metrics. It's about how Google would see the site.

Google prefers sites with SSL these days. It goes without saying that if Google prefers a site, it will prefer a site it is linking to.

Though many PBN link sellers here use sites without SSL. I don't know whether it is working for their clients or not. Maybe they can confirm.

some old PBN sites will sometimes use HTTP only, as you don't really NEED https unless your transferring anything confidential, like a login.
Hell I know sites that still have HTTP logins, lol
But an old HTTP link vs a new https link, how would you tell the difference, without testing them?
