[Journey] From Food Delivery Rider to $1k/mth Affiliate

Happy days with your business buddy. What is the broad niche? Assume it is related to events!

Unfortunately it is not directly related to events. Can't do affiliate sales for the events sector :(. But I'll be coming up with top 10 articles for events, hoping to attract some backlinks from there.

I also work in the SEO sector for Singapore at the agency, although not in IM. Just Health businesses SEO, but we also plan to do some research and expand into that at some point. Bestinsingapore is killing it, though. With a .co domain no less. That site got a ton of investment in it but it grew insanely in just a year, so IM is definitely working in SG.

Following, Good luck :)

Yes!!! Bestinsingapore has since came up with 3-4 more similar sites and they are killing it locally. I am inspired by their growth, actually. They are targetting the whole spectrum of tough niches and I'm narrowing it down to one specific niche. I really hope they consider me a competitor in a year's time!

Well, whatever they are doing, it works.

I turn 30 last week and this journey thread documents my progress from a food delivery rider to establishing an authority site.

A little about me

I served as a soldier in Singapore for 7 years and I have had experience in SEO by ranking my local business keyword and earning approximately SGD$2,000(~USD1.5k) a month in selling of leads while I was in service. I have left the service on October 2018 and began my business full-time in the events industry. However, in late January 2020 when CoVid-19 strikes, this entire industry is decimated to a point it leaves many business owners in my industry bankrupt and others struggling to stay afloat. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, I do not have high overheads to run this business but sales is 0 since early Feb. I have turned to food delivery to earn some money to tide myself through this pandemic.

The Journey

This journey focuses primarily on reinvesting a huge part of my earnings from Food Delivery on my electric bicycle to this project. I am estimating a monthly investment of approximately SGD$2,000(~USD1.5k) for this project until it brings me positive ROI. Earnings from my delivery gig and the costs of establishing the authority site will be tabulated here for tracking.

The Project

The domain is a one word local tld with huge relevance to the specific niche. It is one of the most competitive niche locally but I'm watching tons of [Top 10 xxx] articles ranking for the most competitive keywords.

Sources of income from this project will be mainly by providing services to companies and affiliate marketing in Singapore and hopefully we get to sell sponsored posts to local brands.

Costs incurred so far

Domain Registration USD$72
Domain Hosting USD$120
Website Design USD$161 (Totalling USD$353)
You are a real hustler. I'm so happy to see that you are taking action, keeping your ego aside to do whatever it takes to survive in these unpredictable times.

I suggest that when the market situation is normal (or even slightly better) you should look for opportunities in your original business, because you will have an edge over others who already gave up for good. Keep an eye out for the changes. Since you have a rich experience in what you were doing, you could make massive money from it when you're back in the game.

And all the best for the website business. I'll be following this thread :) Are you Singaporean?

Ego isn't gonna put food on the table during these times and I will definitely be back in the events industry and make bank from it when it recovers. Initially I was planning to deploy 2 more sites to target my current KWs but that would seem a bit overkill. Imagine ranking top 3 in organic searches but I own all the top 3 businesses, but I'm putting that aside until the industry recovers - I am unable to forecast if the entire events industry is gonna be moved online in the near future.

And yes, I am a Singaporean.

Feel free to PM me if it's a big offtopic, but could you point me to some of their other sites? They did a lot of outreach and link exchange at the very start and then they just started dumping cash on PBNs and guest posts. Not sure what else they're doing other than spending a lot of money on content.

Well, whatever they are doing, it works.
i does amazed on they just start this year april can get tons of traffic, in fact their 2nd biggest traffic is from USA , first is SG
I do suspect they buy tons of links or PBN I don't know I not expert in. depth on SEO .

I check their site is cover a lot stuffs.

Yes, I did a bit of reverse engineering on their site and I don't see why anyone could not replicate their success. Maybe I will take a longer time to reach there, but with the right amount of effort and hustle I don't see why I cannot outrank them.

I also trying but don't worry I not target SG market :)

how u do your reverse engineerig on their site?

Read their source codes, put their website into ahrefs and check their backlink profile, etc

I not sure is it due to their " name and domain does help obviously I feel beside their backlinks "

the name already kinda easy to type , if some one going to search " ok what the best thing in singapore " Most likely their site will naturally pop out at google search page one

than the domain is .co

.co is usually company like to use if i not wrong .

.org also another one these two kinda like give some authority ? than .com ? i not sure

side note, that site surprising never use social media, don't have their fb page
if they include i see their traffic will add in more

Update 1 - Shortlisting Good Writers

Made SGD1k(USD741) from food delivery since 1st Nov and the upcoming days isn't looking ideal for riding. Huge thunderstorms happening in Singapore and delivery on electric bicycle isn't safe.

Paid for 5 x 1500 words article for USD100, hoping to get good writers for this. Web design is not done yet but the ETA for it is by end of next week(14th Nov) with revisions and such. Looking to sink in another ~USD300 by end of next week if all goes well.

Total Investment thus far - USD453

Update 2

Earned about SGD2.3k since 1st November, lower earnings due to regular torrential rains.

Received 4 done articles and fired a few writers in the process. Spent another USD200 on 9 other articles.

Wasn't getting replies from my Web design guy hence proceeded with Paypal dispute. He replied shortly after to get me to cancel my dispute.

Total Investment thus far - USD653

nice, but bro Not say been negative. I not sure you done before IM , or earn online before. If I not mistaken you deal with event managenment as a job last time before do food delivery?

because if you are first time doing, you have to endure " cannot earn much effect " to be honest.

Some members here do site , sell stuffs even for years can't get a constant earnings per day not to mention 1 k per month. " what I mean is constantly at least you earn 1k per month " not like this month u earn just 300, next month 500 , but at least min you will have or earn at least 1k per month anything above is + and - due to the nature of in constant earnings per day , as doing IM is like open a retail shop selling things , everyday earnings is vary

you claim earn Sin dollar 2.3 per month should be? still alot than doing IM online.

if not mistaken you actually not doing Full time with this site right? As you will be looking going back to your usual full time job when things get well?

Hello to you too. How are you? My name is Cyrus. Today is Tuesday.

Yo OP,

Singaporean too

Local SERPs are definitely easier, most of them uses PBNs though.

Since there's no link culture in SG, anything work at this point as long as you are not competing against PBNs

Monetisation here definitely is crazy good from what i heard from other agency friends, most of it is niche-specific tho
