No. Most blogs display their posts that way and it helps your visitors engage more.

And he says this:
"#8) Remove recent posts widget. All this does is inject a ton of extra keywords into all your pages. Keep your keywords in your articles, you don't need your template bumping up your keyword density."
Plus if you look at his 2015 PDF guide he says this:

"Consider for a moment, that your website has 50 pages. You make a new post entitled, "Fluffy Colored Widgets". That also happens to be exactly what you want to rank for. Google found your new page! scanned the other 50 pages on your website yet. You have a recent posts widget, which has placed a link on every page to your website to your new post,

A week passes, now Google has scanned every page on your site. All 50 of your articles are linking to that post with exact anchors. Suddenly, you're back in the SERPs! This is the "Google Dance" that confuses so many webmasters, not understanding why their ranking jumps all over the place.
This example site's rankings would be far more stable if it dropped the recent posts widget. If the post had a longer title, then the anchors wouldn't have been 100% exact from 50 pages (instead, a longer title of "The Top Fluffy Colored Widgets Reviewed" would make it closer to 50% exact. This would also dilute the title, as well as other template-injected keywords such as breadcrumbs (this is why articles with longer titles rank better on a wordpress-type CMS). By removing this type of injection from the template, rankings would be higher and more stable."
