Nice Try, Phishing for the desperate

You mentioned there's an attached document. Did you download this document and scan it by any chance?
How you know it hasn't launched a script on your system?
I wasn't sure if I should download it, just viewed it in the gmail preview. I don't think that's a major issue but who knows, I ran scans on a monthly basis and even if someone get's some data, everything related to money has additional authentication.

There is no update in this topic, I haven't received any further emails.

sooooo, i just got one of this sent to my personal e-mail too

what's the consensus on this? csc global is just bullshit scare tactic on a bunch of people?

Lol the thing is, what is china gonna do? Come to your house and kill you? I can't imagine being sued by bytedance for having tiktok in a domain name

apparently csc global (this bullshit company that is probably being impersonated by some low life) would be the one that sues you because they claim they have been authorized by bytedance to make such decisions on their behalf

the whole thing sounds like such horse shit when you type it all out. i highly doubt these companies give a fuck about small sites and domains like this. it's too much effort to scour the entire internet to rid all this shit

For me though I'm in the us and we don't exactly fuck with bytedance so i like to actually see what they are gonna do

They actually got me for a second there until I noticed "Dear Sirs" and that the domain is in grace period anyways.

Guys, I don't believe that this is legit for a few reasons. As already said, the domain was already down before the email was even sent. A legit company would have noticed this or they are truly incompetent in what they are doing.
"to deactivate the domain name within three (3) working days from your receipt of this notice in order to prevent further action taken against you and your company."

Persoanlly I believe some scammers want the expired domain because they believe it has some value, that's all. They can fake where the email comes from, they can even fake the signature, as a developer I know how this can be done. The server the email was sent from is related to namecheap and namecheap isn't exactly a registrar huge companies go for. It's a highly used registrar by blackhatters, scammers and so on.

They even attached a document which is signed by "legal counsel Jingping Dong". I mean, that name sounds way to funny to be legit and could be found on the web easily.

They haven't even contacted the hosting where the domain was on before even if it's super easy to trace it back what has way more success on a takedown than sending out some email to a random whois protection. Of course it can be legit in the end, but there is just to much off and I'm almost certain someone just tried really really hard. Anyway, just calm down since there are not many ways they can get me so it's an interesting thing to share.

Your explaination seems logic to me, any updates since ?

Dude, this looks legit. They have everything right... look.

Have you still heard nothing?

It's 100% legit, but they will probably not do anything if your website is small.

Today I received the same content of this mail. The word tiktok is not mentioned in my domain name, only there are some things about tiktok on the website. They sent me the violated url. But instead of saying remove the url, they say deactivate the domain. Anyone experiencing this situation have any ideas on how I should proceed?
