Does Follow for Follow destroy your account?

It's been a while since i built an IG account, so i am out of the loop.
I am starting a meme page right now, so should i stay away from f4f method?
I read an article somewhere that you lower the quality of your account if you follow some random accounts, instead of quality accounts in your own niche.

keep the daily limits and your account will be fine, do not follow random users. follow the followers of similar accounts. or follow the users who have liked similar posts (find them by hashtags).

Daily limits depending on the age of your account, for fresh account dailly follow limit maybe 100-150 its maximal at this time and make sure to create a gap between follow time, for example 15/hour, after running 2-3 week without limit ban you could increase to 200 250 or higher

yes, try to figure out a way to do f4f with people in your niche. random followers do not help you grow your engagement.

It doesn't lead to an instant ban. Even of you surpass daily limits, a temporary ban is invoked. 200-300/day is fine in my end.

Doing manually within the limit is fine. go for 100 per day in the beginning

Yes it lowers the quality of your page. You get low quality followers even bot accounts and hence low engagements. You might get shadowban if you use banned hashtags some if which are follow for follow hashtags. In general follow for follow hashtags are spamy. So people using them have high spam score. So you not only don't want to use them you don't want to follow account which use them.
