So this happened today!

I was browsing some "programming related" topic. And my search result turned into a matrix. And the following screen was shown.

Then I clicked "I want to play".

It has a terminal-like interface like below.

Apparently, FooBar is google's funny way of hiring people. There are five levels with increasing complexity. If one completes all the levels, there is a chance to get an interview from Google.

I really don't have the energy to learn complex algorithms and mathematics and stuff to complete these questions right now. I'll keep this in mind, maybe if I get bored with what I am doing right now, I'll give this a shot (as a learning experience that is).

By the looks of it is not that hard to get this foobar invite. You can manually trigger it. All you have to do is search for some programming related keywords about list manipulation and it'll pop up.

Co-worker received this challenge as well while googling for some coding stuff.

If you do ls -la in the terminal you will see a bunch of files and instructions.

Pretty interesting way of hiring.

Hahah what a cool easter egg, almost seems like god is talking to you, lol

Did your co-worker manage to do the challenges?

It is pretty cool. I was a bit shocked at first to see the SERP change into an animation first lol

Did they mention "evil organization"?

It's not a rumor after all. Google is the evil organization mentioned in all the comic books. They are going to bring the apocalypse someday.

What if Bunny Planet is really Earth?

Saw it a few years ago and yeah the animation catches you by surprise. Didn't even begin to try and complete it, if I remember rightly you have a time frame to attempt it.

I couldn't figure out how I had not seen this challenge by now...

Turns out uBlock was blocking it. I guess Google only wants employees that are paying into their pockets with ad revenue ;)

It's neat, this reminds me of the jobs page for repl.it. It's also a terminal interface, but it provides no directions or prompt!
Replt thing is pretty cool.

That's cool! Hasn't happened to me yet. Guess I'm not 1337 enough :D
Just search python or java list manipulation keywords. Haha

Hmm, im surprised i didn't get this for years. But then again, i search directly in stackoverflow lol.

I had Ublock Origin enabled when i got this though.
