Need help... (Google rankings, etc.)

Hi all,

Kind of in a quandary, have 2 sites, the first is a domain that has been around since 2009, is a business site that had ranked on page 1 for years for its keywords, but now no matter what I do, cannot get it back there at all. Currently it is sitting on page 9 for its main keyword which is insane.

The site itself is SSL, latest security, etc. and is not a blog, it just displays the company's work, contact info, etc..

The other is a site that has been around since Spring 2020, has constant new content (6-7 per week).

Both are completely legitimate (one a company, the other a multimedia entertainment site).

Trying to see what I can do for them, but am currently baffled as nothing I do (link building, SERP, etc.) is having a positive effect.

If you can advise, would appreciate it.

What kind of links are you getting? Sometime, you website can get penalized by google cuz of the quality of the links you are building. In case you have built some questionable links, i would suggest get rid of them and find out if there is a penalty on your site.

What is the reason it dropped to 9? Was the site inactive for a while? Or happened out of the blue?
Many things can be wrong here.. spammy backlinks (by you). Or a competitor could have blasted you with trash links just to sandbox you out of page 1...

The business site enjoyed much press coverage, it is a pretty static site that only shows their current work, press, etc.

How can I tell if the site has been penalized? How can I tell if there has been a competitor that blasted it with trash links?

one method i read to check if your site is penalized by google is to write out the url in google search bar but put a blank space in between it and com so for example.
yoursite com
no dot

if it shows at #1 there is 100% no penalty if its at rank 3-4 then possibly a penalty & if its on page 3 definetely a penalty.

Did that and it shows it as #1

It is not that kind of site, nor are the ones in the same keywords.

They simply state what they do, their clients, past examples of their work, etc.

It is not selling anything but for new clients to discover them, etc.
