Hello guys, I'm new to e-commerce game. If I want to build a long-term website with products (all SEO optimized etc.) , is it best to get domain + hosting and then use a woocommerce plugin? Or what's the best to use for long-term store.

hey,
in my experience you can build it yourself with woocommerce or shopify, you have to start to know what can you do !! best of luck

I will go with shopify. It's easy to set it up, low startup cost. If the money starts pouring in you can always move to something else later.

I can advise shopify.

When starting in e-commerce I looked at pretty much all platforms and Shopify was the best for my needs.

From the top of my head about shopify:

Shopify (best if you are beginning or expect to have unexpected demand spikes for your products - e.g.valentines day items and your store)
+
Lots of knowledge online
Easy to manage with little skills
Fast site speeds
Good SEO (from my experience)
Can handle a big amount of visitors/purchases/orders at the same time

-
Shopify does sometimes block stores without explanation or ways to get them back
29 USD/month minimum (if you want free then register as a partner account and create a store that is accessable only with password)
Take % of revenues using their checkout (can be avoided with funnelbuilder custom checkout - they charge fixed fee)

maybe there are other things i have forgotten to mention and maybe it would have been best to make a comparison chart with other platforms

shopify is more easy than woocommerce?

Yeah, probably.
If you want to pay a monthly fee, and also a % of your sales.
It's a good platform, but also kind of a rip off.

What is a better solution to this?

there used to be a solution for shopify, where you could be a shopify "partner" - create a building website for your "client" - set up a custom checkout like "funnelbuildr" (when it still had one time fee for lifetime use). That is how i still have some "free" shopify sites.

Also weirdly, i think shopify has some deal with google, because the ranking of my newly created shopify sites increases quite quickly and often goes to 1st place for certain keywords. So that might be worth looking into.

Apart from that for a shopify store the minimum fixed cost is 29 usd/month, which is quite high for many nieche sellers. Especially if you want to have several idle websites that have maybe 10 sales per year. Then better to go with woocommerce.

I have used wordpress/woocommerce with numouress plugins, the plugins are endless for both Wordpress/Woocommerce, a well as shopify. Easier to comeby "free" plugins for woocommerce, if you are selling a standard click and add to cart product, woocommerce is easy. If you are doing dropshipping via aliexpress then alidropship plugin for wordpress is easy to use, and then have a really good themes free and some cost $$.
https://alidropship.com/ If you are doing your own product where you ship it from you location Wordpress and Woocommerce and the many plugins will help you. I have used wordpress and woocommerce on all my ecom sites, and am very happy it.
If you want to see one of my complex sites, where the user gets to customize all their product I direct message me and I will send you the website link.
