Web Hosting (Wordpress)

Can someone please recommend a good web hosting company that offers PHP/MySQL, preferably Linux, where I can install Wordpress fairly easily without performing a ton of hacks and tweaks?

Well I think you can do that with nearly all web hosts this days. This is because what you need is a tool called fantastico.

Fantastico allows you to install many scipts including wordpress with a few clicks. Its as easy as that.

I'm a newb and I love hostgator. Their support is excellent. They have live chat which fixes newbie problems ASAP. If the problem is bad, then their support ticket system is pretty fast too.

Also, you can host adult blogs on hostgator i think, which is good to have just in case.

You can't really host adult blogs with hostgator. It says so in their TOS.

I recommend hostgator as well. One thing I read on another forum is that they don't like some programs, such as RSS2Blog on shared servers. I haven't any problem using it on my reseller accounts but I changed the folder name and don't plan to ask for any support help on it.

I was using hostgator shared hosting for 6 blogs and they suspended my account for using too much CPU. I think feedwordpress and autosocialposter was too much for them. I'm trying to get it fixed right now.

Yeah. Two-thumbs up for hostgator because of great price, support, and reliability. Besides for not being able to create an adult site, you could still cookie stuff, blog, etc.

It's quite cheap and support wordpress, joomla etc in one account.

Hostgator is reliable too...However, I have heard cases of account being shut down due to spam complaints...

If I understand correctly, I think host gator actually allows adult content.

If you searched "adult site:h0stgat0r.c0m" (replace the 0 with o) in g00gle, I think you'll read a number of posts that suggest that adult sites are allowed.

For sure, Bluehost/HostMonster do not allow adult content, but it looks like HostGator does.

this is what is says

Well maybe they allow adult sites. But they can remove your site without any warning if they feel like it.

Ill host you for free with just a small adsense ad on your page. You'll have to mask the domain though
