Yes, macbook thermals aren't the greatest, but it's not like all windows laptops have great thermal design.
Apple isn't that expensive either when it comes to high end devices.

imo it really comes down to what OS you prefer. I'm personally a Windows guy, so Mac isn't really an option for me, but if I liked MacOS - I don't think Apple products are as overpriced and bad as people act they are. Are they perfect? Hell no. They're average-performing devices with timeless design.

The thing is, you have only one option for macbooks. Apple. You have virtually unlimited options available if you wanted to go for windows/linux. Some of them don't have good thermal performance, while some do actually have very good thermal performance.

What I hate the most about apple thermals is the fact that apple could easily have designed better cooling solution, but they consciously chose not to. Please watch the video I posted in my OP.

I'm not a fan of Apple products in general, but I know several quite big software companies that switched from Windows notebooks to Macbooks for their developers, and they love it. As long as everyone in the company uses Apple, it's not a problem anymore that the system is closed, but an advantage. So no, Apple isn't only for private consumer fanboys and "boomers", their products have their merits in the professional space, too. My brother wouldn't go back to the Windows notebooks he used previously for more than 10 years as a developer, now that he uses a Macbooks for 2 years. At home, he uses Linux of course.

I bought a new Macbook Pro a few weeks ago...and I have to say: Damn. I regret it.

Before I had a Macbook Air (2014) and it was superb. No noise, fast, no problems. This Macbook Pro (2020) feels like a downgrade even tho it has much more RAM and much bigger storage. It gets super loud just when opening two programs at the same time and it gets slow. This never happened with the Macbook Air. The only positive aspects are the sound and the display, but thats it.

I am seriously asking myself what the fuck Apple did. How can Macbook Air from 2014 seem to be better than a new Macbook Pro? Wtf.

I am making apps for iOS, so it's quite convenient for me to use a Macbook. Otherwise, I would probably buy a Huawei Matebook or a Samsung Ultrabook.

I notice under Tim Cook , they more aggressive for money than Steve job yet make the Apple crappy .

I noticed now a days whenever update they come out , somehow " slow down the Mac, even the recent IOS new update drain a lot battery faster " especially u still iPhone 7+

My wallet would never forgive me if I were to throw my hard earned shekels at a Mac, while I value my sanity too much to lock horns with anything Microsoft has to offer.

Never played a computer game in my life, but do a fair amount of coding. Even then I avoid the only good thing remotely related to Microsoft, i.e. VS Code. instead I use the open source version, codium.

I've tried a view Linux distros, the best, in my opinion, is Elementary OS.

Here's how Linux and Microshit compare when setting up a dev environment

My experience hasn't been that bad though. I do fair amount of coding as well. Currently, I have WSL 2(Ubuntu) for the LAMP environment, and VS Code + Node + Expo for mobile development. The setup for both couldn't be smoother. I use Win 10 by the way.

Yeah, if you sit all day with the WHMCS open, you would probably be fine with Mac. Try overclocking that macbook, yumm.

My old mid-2012 Macbook pro does everything I want him to do. It's been 8-9 years and I didn't change a thing on the pc.
Linus video is marketing and nothing else. Whether you use mac os, Linux, or windows, the most important part is to do your work.
