Here's the plan.

I've started a web design studio focused on a specific category of professionals. Just that niche, nothing more.
The studio is in my native language.

I've made this choice guessing it'll be easier to get customers being so specific, instead of create a random portfolio like million others (like "Hey, i'm john smith ui/ux expert blah blah blah").

If i'm right or wrong, we'll see soon.

What I've done so far
  • Competitors Analysis: i've found around 10 other folks narrowing down in my niche, mainly generic web agency trying to targeting it with a specific page; none of them looks professional at all, neither such specialized as i am.
  • Website: I've completed the website, it looks good but i consider it an MVP (minimum viable product). I'm kind of perfectionist but i figured out i have to jump into things instead of waste time on details.
I don't bank on the site to get new customer, because the monthly amount of research for my keywords is ridicoulus (20-30).
What to do
  • A video where I provide free value, explaining the main principles of an good website in this niche
  • Start seeking customers and send proposals

I don't have a portfolio.
Not even sure if i really need it, my website is itself an example of my work.
Anyway, if don't get clients immediately, i might consider to create a couple of templates to showcase something more.

Lead Generation and Sales Strategy

Phase 1: Lead Generation

The first campaign will target professionals which already have a website, but it looks like crap.
After building some portfolio I'll target also professionals without a website.

Manually searching on google "job-title+city-name" for all the cities and areas in my country.
Scan every website and quickly create a list with the ones that fit.

Phase 2: Lead Conversion / Proposal
I'll go with cold emails.
Actually, i'd rather say "lukewarm emails".

Why?
The proposal i'm planning will be a brief and honest message about how i find their website and what i do.
I'll then link to a video where i perform a quick audit of the website, following this format:
1.What's wrong in the site
2.How bad is affecting them
3.How can be improved

This makes the proposal completely personalized and not spammy or generic.
Also, putting my face on the line i hope to build more trust and authority.

*********

I'm honestly nervous about starting the sales part, it's not something really aligned with my personality, but getting uncomfortable is the way to grow, so..

lets-do-it

Do you intend to use WordPress to build the website?

I wish you the best on this journey.
Not at all, i kind of hate wordpress, i decided to avoid any kind of wordpress related job.

I use Webflow.
