Monetising subreddits

Over the past few months I've been developing subreddits in the adult niche, and whilst I've had to scale back my efforts as of late due to uni, a few of my larger ones have now reached 21k, 11k and 10k as well as a few smaller ones at 1-3k. Whilst I have had a few ideas on how to potentially monetise other niche subreddits, I have found it difficult to come up with ideas on how to monetise the adult nice apart from creating my own tube site, something that I lack the expertise to do- so I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas on how to monetise a subreddit?

Quizzes about porn stars? You can drive traffic from your subreddits and if you won't use nude photos on quiz you can even monetize with Google, or if you do, monetize with adult networks. The niche of porn in quizzes just started, I see how this could bring good money.

That's exactly right. There could be various quizzes. Just because someone works in porn, it doesn't make content to be adult, thus if you don't use nude pictures but use dressed ones you should be good to go. You can actually choose between adult and mainstream, but I think the mainstream would be easier to work with. Put some ads around the quiz and as long as you drive traffic you will be always making money.

Basically crossposting a lot from different accounts. Not the best strategy I guess but it works if you do it for some time.

I don't believe the number is that high but even if it is you can use anti-ad-blocker so the site won't be accessed unless the adblocker is turned off. There is always a way to make revenue with ads and quizzes no matter what type of content or traffic there is or what type of ad blocker they use.

You can add CTA to the very last page of the quiz or even have a personality quiz with different variants, depending on the answer you can offer a different cam.

Quizzes would be your worst option for adult. People are there to jack off not for solving quizzes about pornstars. Dating works well (much better than cams) on reddit, especially with adverten's smartlink. it converts like crazy.

You're wrong. With this idea, everyone would be just watching free porn as they just want to jack off, but we still get adult ads, services, chats, etc. There will be those who want to jack off, and there will be those who would want to play quizzes. It also depends on how you market the quiz. If that's a personality quiz, like I suggested above, where you suggest which cam model to watch it would work just great.

I see you didn't read my full comment, because in the second part I recommended an alternative that works like a charm. Also, his subs are way too small to send decent traffic for display ads, he would have to pump out quizzes every day, when an adult smart link would generate more money with minimal effort. I mean I don't deny that quizzes works, they are just a terrible solution for adult traffic.

I read it in full, probably we just have a different experience with quizzes, ads, and Reddit.
I work with quizzes and ads for living and I see that there are some points that you fail to see just because of the lack of experience, but we can always agree to disagree.

Because as I see, quizzes for adult subs would be a lot of work for less money.

Setting up a website and pumping out new quizzes is time and money.

While redirecting a domain to a smartlink is basically free (apart from the domain), and has no maintenance.

People go to porn reddits to wank, and they want to fuck, date, or maybe watch some live sex. No one ever wanted to solve a quiz mid wanking, most of the people don't even have a favorite pornstar.

But ok they clicked the quiz and now they are seeing semrush ads while they have a semi flaccid boner. I just don't see this user journey.

But ok we sent 100 users how many clicks on ads 0.7%? How is this better than sending 100 clicks straight to the funnel provided by the aff network?

Anyway, I'm really curious about what points I don't see, also if you have a good adult quiz I'm willing to sticky it in a 600k+ adult subreddit for 24h just to see how it performs.

Because as I see, quizzes for adult subs would be a lot of work for less money.

I see it differently, I got your point that everyone want's to jerk off, but my point is that not everyone, there will still be traffic actually interested in playing quizzes.

Everything you do is time and money. Even free work is time and time is money, thus whatever you do has a cost.

What makes you think the ads would be SemRush? There could be lube ads if the user was looking for a lube before. The ads are personalized and based on many things such as interests, social media accounts, browsing history, search history cookies, etc. Even if the user from EU or CA there are workarounds to still target ads, but if not, you still being paid for impressions, even if the ad is from SemRush (they still paid for that) and even if there are no clicks on the ad.

Normal CTR is within 1%, so 0.7% is actually quite good. Again, you think you only being paid for clicks, but most networks moved to CPM or CPC + CPM, meaning you would get paid for impressions and you don't need to hope that some of the clicks would convert and you would make a commission.
