Youtube Keyword Research

What's the best way of going about this? I know that depending on your channel size you should be using specific keywords and that most people use keywords that aren't appropriate for their channel. Can someone point me in the proper direction for researching keywords that I can deduce are proper based on my channel?

Keyword research for Youtube is a very interesting topic, as unlike its Google counterpart - we have almost no knowledge to base our research on, especially when it comes to actual search volume.
My 2 favourite methods for comparing keywords in terms of competition are using Youtube auto-complete feature and Google Trends (if the keyword is popular enough). It won't give you any actual numbers, but it can help you choose between a few keywords you are exploring.
