A banned moderator is a banned member, so they'll be grey.

Not all admins, maybe I'll make myself into a special admin. Maybe I'll be purple at some point in the future.

As for being easily recognisable, red was even more pronounced; but that was a problem.
I think this grey colour not as intrusive, but still conveys the message pretty well.
