It's essentially the same as being trash and a failure at a game, and resorting to cheating.

IMO,
1. it shows the character of the person
2. If you can't show up on page 1, you have to do negative SEO on all page 1 results which is a lot of work
3. It's the lowest common denominator which means if it's easily done, you'll get yours in time
So, negative SEO is not worth it

not sure if you can call that negative seo.... i call it more of being a dick !
Don't mess with tripadvisor. Some platforms might not seem to give two shits but some guy got sentenced to prison for months for posting negative reviews on tripadvisor. And they are very savvy about authenticity too.

You guys all left out a different piece. Not targeting competitors. But for reputation management, if someone is trying to push down negative results about themselves. They can try to put up new content and SEO that above the negative, but sometimes, the negative stuff is too strong and even if untrue, they won't take down. So the thought would be to weaken their listing a bit.

instead of hurting your competition why not strive to be better and learn from them?
they are there for a reason and a purpose;
-the reason is because they’re doing something right
and their purpose is to make a damn living
Why sabotage another man’s bread while you can prove you’re better? The more competition the smarter we become
it’s hilarious but actually you should kill your competition with kindness not by sabotaging it

let’s say I owned hands down the best tacos in town
You got your YouTube tutorial basic taco recipe business going on
finding a way to destroy my business with some whatever bad PR propaganda type shit and become the only taco spot it town won’t increase your business
sooner or later, people will realize you serve basic ass shit will all the respect to food and maybe you’ll be left with some lazy costumers
but what if you could learn my patterns or research the market and focusing on outsmarting the competition?
can you believe how much word to mouth itself can increase your business?
I know people that pay at least mid high 4 digits just to eat
“Have you heard of X in la? DAAAAMN YOU GOTTA..” etc. (word to mouth as an example but it can be wayyyy more)
There are food junkies (hobbyists) all around the world that will be willing to travel to the other side JUST TO TASTE your food.
I mean c’mon
I know there’s a lot of unfairness in the game man we all struggle by the day
And I know tons of excuses myself since as a start I’m outside home over 12 on the daily cause I got a job but minus shower and eating something you got to have an HOUR to do something
even if you quit, try making it a habit
You got most of your day on some chained to the factory type life anyway so what exactly you have to lose?
I’ve said mindset and I’ll say it again
Mindset, and even better, if you can, maybe if you’ll try good enough you’ll find a ‘successful’ circle
you can’t blame your competition for hurting you cause you’re choosing to hurt yourself in the first place
they were in the same shoes you’re in before you
and they didn’t do it to hurt you
And lets say they did it to benefit themselves
that’s not ‘high thinking’ but thinking way above the ego
If you’re focusing on other people rather than yourself you’re wasting your time
I’m telling you not how I’m seeing it on the spot, but I’m noticing a familiar pattern that makes quite a lot of sense
and as they say there will always be someone better than you
and as how it goes: “Jack of all traits, master of none.” fits as well
competition is healthy.

You could’ve asked how to analyze your competition/‘target’ (‘enemy’ depending on the way of looking at your competition)
most likely you could get loads of valuable directions for a start
And actually take action on them

ok. you convinced me. I really wasn't that into trying anything negative. I'm putting up videos and pr and blog articles and optimizing them so hopefully they will overtake the negative results i'm trying to push down.
