Mac vs Windows (Programming)

Hi guys
Never had a Mac before but I am about to buy one. As you know it is around $2.5k.

So my question is that is there any noticeable advantage of Mac over Windows when it comes to programming?

Code is just English, you type it like English in any code editor and it works. But of course, it sometimes spits out grammar errors if the syntax is wrong. jk

The difference? None. Maybe performance will be way better.

If you run most in the cloud it really does not matter.
Unless you love visual studio larger version like me.

Hmmm, yes, I use both Windows and Macos and I can tell you there are huge differences if you want to use tools such as Docker. Docker for example is a pain in the ass on Windows while in Macos it works out of the box.

I find Macos to be way more friendly with the developer over time with certain things that require Unix knowledge. I could post a longer text here but I'll keep this short. Macos > Windows for me (I even recently switched all my programming from Windows to Ubuntu because of certain problems)

IMO, it depends on the usage... One of my friend is Network engineer, he prefers mac over windows. I'm into web, mobile and desktop application, so I prefer windows.

None that I know of, at least for what I do. I use vs code on Windows. You could use vs code on mac. There is absolutely no difference when it comes to the code. I find windows more user friendly because I am used to it. You may find mac more user friendly, because you might be used to it. It's all about the training.

None. Get a normal pc with decent enough config. Load up debian/ubuntu.

Windows 10 now comes with wsl. In case you haven't checked it yet, give it a try! You would probably fall in love with it. Btw, I have used docker on windows before, and it was pretty smooth. You probably did not set it up right.

Anyways, I have stopped using xampp/wamp or containers and started using lamp on ubuntu (wsl) through windows. Pretty dope, I must say. I will be posting a tutorial on how to set it up, pretty soon.

Mac or Linux generally. If you plan on apps developing for Windows, then you would want to stick with it.

I prefer windows becauase i loved building my own setup without the dilemmq of upgrading my setup after a year because the manufacturer promises a better performance. When it comes to coding, any operating system works, you can even code on mobile phones now.

Macbook pro is worth paying more for, having a nice ubuntu desktop setup is also great to work with. Mac is the shit honestly, I'll never use windows ever again.

Yes absolutely. OS X is Unix-based which is a huge advantage over windows. Plus, you can still install windows if you ever need it, so you have the option to switch between the two OSs with ease. You can’t do that on a PC.

Of course u can install dual OS also with Windows or use virtualization. MacOS is shitty restricted OS i would use Linux or FreeBSD (where MacOSX copy a lot lol)
