free market is also trying... that's what this thread is about. i'd have loved to see a worthy competitor from some start up though, but google is killing them and that's why congress had to chip in. Let's see what happens next.

I support this 100%. It would be nice to see Google get some real competition in search and Apple is one of those companies that can pull this off.

That said, there's also a possibility of it being another Bing in the making. Fingers crossed.

I doubt it would get popular and compete with google, safari didn't do too well.

On IOS I believe safari is the dominant browser.

If Apple does it, they'll charge websites to appear in it. And the results will be terrible.

Remember Apple maps? It failed miserably
Remember Safari for Windows? It failed miserably

They pretty much only make money on hardware & siphoning a fee on app store products.

I hope they launch a search engine & invest billions into it. The sooner Apple dies the better off the hardware & software industry is without proprietary tech.

Microsoft got slammed for far less - and at least they gave out most of their stuff for free to developers & students, unlike Apple.
