Comment Backlinks Still Works?

There is this my competitor that is doing well on Google, I checked his link profile and almost everything consist of comment Backlinks (mostly no follow and ugc). He has around 400 articles (not unique and very short), stuffs keywords and most of the articles are on page 1 of Google. Do comments backlinks still work or what do you think is the cause?

I forgot to add that the comments were made on sites that were not relevant with high OBL.

Blog commenting still works but spamming is not the route as only relevant information is going to make it work for you.

Works good if done on a high traffic blogd to siphon the traffic and remember to be creative

Blog commenting should be used when there's no other option or simply for diversity.

Blog commenting works, check out @WebMinati case study. He used comments to move his site up on google. Make sure you find good blogs to comment on, not spammy ones. Look for relevant stuff, and it will work. Your competitor is doing it right? Now, don't over do it, do a good mix of links so your website stands the test of time. Good luck!

Comment backlinks do work..but they may not be that great.. but still it contributes..

But make sure the site is relevant to your niche..and it's metrics is good..
