IG biggest current competitor

This pretty much. Sure, there may be some super small apps out there with interesting ideas, but as of now not really any significant competition outside of Tiktok & Snapchat. IG is a camera-based platform more than Facebook, it's their thing. I find it funny how days after Trump announced the Tiktok "ban" they already had a fully programmed addition to IG called "Reels"
I wonder how much longer they can keep copying platforms like this. It's almost impossible to compete against Facebook.

It's going to last for a long time. It's easy for Mark to copy since he already got traffic, so whatever he creates and if it's crap or not it will skyrocket. It's sad for other platforms .. can you imagine building a platform from scratch and someone comes to ask you to sell him the platform when you decide to not sell it he just end up copying it

Yes, it's sad. Big tech should be more regulated without a doubt. Instagram CEO didn't even want to sell off IG at the time, there was a chat of him saying he was afraid Mark would kill his company if he didn't sell. Facebook is too big, they have too much data over essentially all people on earth who are on the internet - it's unfair to compete against them. I hope it will be regulated soon - eventually it will as it's in the consumers interest.

Well it depends on which country we're talking about ! Insta is not well known in some countries. The only way to answer this is to visit alexa ranking and see which platforms have higher traffic than insta.
As of right now Its twitter .
People talk about tik tok but to be honest only young kids are on it. You hardly see older people on it. Pretty much similar to vine app.

There is no competitor to IG.
Instagram came long before snapchat. So you can not say snapchat is copy of IG.

They did indeed copy the story feature. Not IG that copied but Mark since IG was bought by him
