How important is page speed going to be?

It doesn't seem to impact Youtube's rankings. Here's Youtube's Pagespeed Insights:

Endless loading is all users going somewhere else. So of cause it matters.
If all millisecond change matter then not so much.

The more images take more time to load. So please Optimize the images once you choose to add images. Also the server is the major role in the page speed.

If you really think the most used video sharing platform in the world since 2005, needs to care about speed performance, to be on top of all rankings, you are very wrong.

Precisely - Youtube doesn't need to care about Pagespeed. I run a site with lots of videos, so the Pagespeed is slow. But it doesn't impact my rankings because all of the competing sites in the video search (including Youtube) also have a slow Pagespeed score.

The 'video carousel' is appearing a lot in the SERPs for non-video searches, so you end up competing with Youtube for those keywords.
