I hate losing. I will do anything to win.

Simple solution would be to allow bots. Whoever has the best bot wins. Those who are good can beat the bots anyway.

By bots do you mean chess software programs? Because there are programs out there that Carlsen would have a hard time beating.

Yeah I mean that. Are there such bots? Damn, it will be bot vs bot then. Obviously, developing such an algo just for a tournament is absurd. So, people will use on the shelf stuffs if they indeed do.

Why buy in and who holds money? I'm kinda interested but I think the buy-in bit kind of makes it a bit salty for me think it can also cause issues .. id play in a tournament for fun

Have to agree. When money gets involved things can go south quick.
Even though my skill level is mediocre, this sounds like it could be fun.
If this does get fired up, what would be the potential chess platform that this might be held on?
And I guess the number of players would determine if we are doing swiss or round robin, right?
Hmmm, I wonder if we have any titled players on this site? Should be interesting to find out.

About the buy in one of the MODs could make a BTC wallet and the TX will be the entry ticket.
But we can decide all together if 5 USD buy in, or as the first tournament we make whitout the buy in.

Surprisingly, whoever uses the highest level of stock-fish and is white first can beat his opponent of the opposite party. White has an advantage over black if both of them plan on using the highest level of stock-fish or any other chess-engine.

As a long time chess player on most big chess sites, I can second what everyone said about cheating and virtually guarantee that someone will cheat just to piss everyone off lol.
However, as long as there isn't a strong incentive to win the whole tournament, compared to just taking part no matter who wins or loses, I'm down for it and the experience could be fun.
Not sure we should have a buy in though. At least not in the beginning until we can review how fair the environment is, after one or two tournaments.

We could have an algo for the toss..
Something like Math.round(Math.random()).
Whoever wins gets to choose the color.
