Cryptocurrency mining javascript problem?

I noticed that opening some websites make my PC cooler to blow like a jet engine.

Then I started noticing more and more of these websites.

They're apparently regular sites which shouldn't demand much from the PC.

My question is : is there some widespread javascript cryptocurrency mining going around? Is it somehow monetizing these sites?

I've tried reading the javascript in them but couldn't find the miner. It's probably obfuscated. There sure is something.

Also how do you find a hidden crypto miner if there is one?

Who knows.. But a few years back, "CoinHive" was a thing, a javascript miner that would mine monero, it was very popular on movie sites. But right now, i'm not aware of any similar miners..

Look into the sources, debugger, etc. Code ultimately does not matter.

JS miners are a thing nevertheless. Hard to say without looking at the site.
