'Broken links method' - external websites don't see value in it

Hi,

I'm contacting external websites for getting backlinks and it looks like they don't see the value of it. For example: i'm referring to articles of 2 years old and they say: "we don't care about this old articles". How can I let them know the value of changing their '404 links' to my links?

Maybe show an audit of there website and an article of the impact of seo broken links.

You should probably stop following those guru methods, they are way oversaturated. While they maybe don't cost any money, the success rate is low and time ROI is just very low. Just go for guest posts and expect to pay for them.

Tell them linking to an external 404 page is a negative SEO factor and they will gain better rankings if they link to a proper article, that is where you say: 'I have found X article that would suit the link!'

Do some research on how much traffic goes to their page. Show them that this traffic gets a 404. Relate to them how bad this will make them look in the eyes of their visitors.

Then, show them your better-quality content.
