Hi,

I found someone on IG who had extensive background with building out Shopify stores including his own brand (I'm not going to reveal his info as he is active on BHW). He offers potential clients to build out a completely automated Shopify store with a 5-7x ROAS from day one and in his package, he includes the actual design, branding, setup, FB ad's management, & more.

He told me that the cost would be $5K + 20% of the monthly net revenue from the store each month. I was also told that the niches which would be selected are based on current popularity/hype and most (not all) of the stores he's built are one-product niche stores.

Personally, if someone is offering a high ROAS, especially from day one, that is alarming. He told me that the reason he can guarantee a high ROAS is because it's his creditability and store (vs. building it for a client).

The offer is interesting and I'm potentially considering it but I wanted a community opinion as I'm sure most of you might have heard of similar things in the past. Is this something to push away? If anyone has alternative, proven agencies that offer this it would be great if you could give a referral!

The obvious worry on my end is he takes the $ and vanishes into thin air. He did mention that there would be a 2 week refund policy in that if I do not recoup my initial investment, I would get a full refund.

I would really appreciate some feedback/advice on how to proceed with this.

Nothing that seem to good is true. But if the person is asking $5k upfront it is likely that it is just a scam. Personally, I think it is a scam, I doubt anyone in the world would do anything if they were given $5k on the internet. But also look at his reputation etc. Best to learn on your own and build one yourself, on the internet don't trust anyone, only yourself. I have experience these situation many times, but lesson learned.

simply stay away from red flags, it is better to earn small money than loosing a lot.

I'm assuming he has a generic template that's being used and recycled. I would have done this myself but my pain spot is building out interest based audiences for my campaigns. To make a website, smack on a landing page app (pagefly, gem pages, etc.) takes no more than 2-3 hours but it's the FB audience build out where I was struggling. Of course, anyone's first reaction to "5-7x ROAS" is, "damn, that's pretty good".

There is no guarantee about how much you are gonna make with your store and no one can assure you the ROI.It depends on many things about if your store will pay you back or not like your creativity, how well do you design the website, cross sell, upsell, messenger bots, email marketing and a lot more.Don't fall for this trap and if he can do what he is saying, question yourself that why doesn't he do the same thing for himself if he is confident about making good ROI.

I actually did question him! His answer was that he has his own store(s) that he operates and for him the kickback is the monthly 20% rev generated from each of his clients.

If he's really able to produce mentioned results, he just could create bunch of Shopify stores on his own..

Common excuses such guys drop are for example: "I don't have the money to create as many" (solution: Search for an investor, re-invest, etc.); "I want to help other people make money" (sure.. A philanthropist disguised as a "Shopify" mentor. Highly unlikely); "The main profit I'll make is if you benefit.. That's why I take a percentage cut from your revenue" (Basically, they're shifting the risks of creating a store to you - if it works, perfect. They got money + passive income stream. In case it doesn't work, no problem for them.. They still got $5k).

I don't see any reason whatsoever to take such an offer.

There are people who create a store (design, product selection, plugins; or even everything in one package) for just a few hundred $. If you're unsure on how to make a store, a.) don't do it b.) look up tutorials or c.) invest in such a service, but please stay away from such offers.
Again, I can't imagine of any reason to take this offer. You take their risk, pay them at the same time an absurd amount of money and if it succeeds still owe them 20% (!!!!) of your revenue (not profit)!

There is no guarantee about what he is saying,if you don't know that even Shopify Sales can be faked and if you already know that then don't trust anyone like this with wild claims and promises, this can be the biggest red flag you will ever get.

I operate on a model where i have an ecom front end funnel and then upsells.

With this model, once optimised, i have a self funding traffic model that over a few months has an roi of an average of about 10x traffic spend.

He is operating on about 50% -70% of that return.

Once i can get it to $30,000 profit per month i can flip it for over $1 million!

Why on earth would i sell it to you for $5000 and then manage it for 20%?

You might want to ask him why he does not build it out for himself and then flip it for 100x more?

Well you can actually also take this perspective. Let say you get paid $10/day which is more than average minimum wage in the US. $5000/ $10 = 500 hours. I am pretty sure you can use those hours to learn and test different method and fine which method work best for you. $5,000 is a lot of money, relatively to many people.

sketch. See if he's on Baller Busters IG first before you make any purchase lmao.

Use your brain OP and stop trying to look for an instant winner. I sense this person is a classic fake-it-til-you-make-it guru.

If he could guarantee himself results like that then he would create stores and flip them for five or six figures. But instead he wants to babysit someone for 5k and 20% revenue share?

If it was truly automated why wouldn't he launch his own stores? Perfect example of "Instead of digging for gold, sell the pickaxe".

If he would have the ability to code a fully automated system, which could deploy stores, ad accounts with profits like this - could't he automate a system which also would find niches for him? I don't understand why he needs the niche from you.

Seems too good to be true IMO.

So what stand did you take? Did you take his offer or did you try on your own?

Scam.

With a ROAS that high from day one then why he’s not building stores instead of selling them, just stay away.

You're so hopeful it's cute. So you found a guy who will give you a money printer for only 5k ? Good for you.
And you never wondered why he is not doing it for himself ? You must be feeling you're a genius for finding him.

Sounds too good to be true, personally I would stay away from his offer
