Question about old school Clickbank approach

I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is, and whats the protocol for posting affiliate links on niche related forums? I'm assuming I should cloak the link?

For now I just want to link straight to affiliate site then eventually create my own with more shit on it.

Old school Clickbank approach thread? Yay

I have seriously gotten away with direct linking to affiliate offers with the Clickbank hoplink in and of itself on niche related forums just like you suggested. That is, the full Clickbank hoplink, http://132jknnk123nk312j.clickbank.net?TID=nameofforum.

I prefer not to do this though as I like a lot more control which is why I use domains I've bought for this purpose.

Besides, this allows you to switch the affiliate offer if you want to for some reason down the line.

Maybe the products stops being sold at Clickbank, then all your hard work goes to waste.

This happened to me with products in the learn piano and learn french niche, respectively.

Luckily for me, since I had a domain set up, all I had to do was to change where the redirect was pointing and the traffic was starting to earn me money again.

I'm sure some forums have automatically banned the Clickbank domain anyways.

But more importantly - it looks really ugly. Visitors might be put off clicking on a link that looks like it might infect their PC, just my theory. I think conversions are a lot lower.

You can start off by doing this without even purchasing a domain in the first place, but like you've suggested yourself - please purchase a domain ASAP.

A $1.75 .club domain started making me money already after a few days with this method. So cheap domains can be used for this since we're going to be using them for redirects anyways.

So you really don't need way more than like a dollar or two for your own domain, which you can then use to create subdomains to further market different products without having to purchase a new domain for each and every one.

Thank you for this detailed response. You pointed out a couple of very useful things that a domain would help:

1. Changing the product in case the current one is no longer available, etc.

2. Subdomains to not have to keep buying domains.

1. Sign up > post reply with link within an hour or two of registering

2. Sign up > wait a day or two > post reply with link

3. Sign up > get into the convo > a few days later post link


If #3 is the viable option, I'm guessing it would only apply to newer threads where there are people still actively participating in the convo v.s. threads that are form like 2010 and before.

I pulling an all nighter finding threads and registering to forums. Loving this.

You're going to have to find out what works best for you, to be honest.

The general consensus amongst those of us who do this is to "warm up" your forum account a bit by posting a few genuine posts, then posting a link from within a relevant post in the thread you suggested.

But to be honest... I barely do this. I'm more of a necro-old-threads-type-of-guy. I do not wait. I spam

It's simply too time consuming to register on forums and participating in discussions before throwing a link into the mix.

If you decide to necro old threads, make sure you bookmark 10 for example and see how many of those are still live after a week or two. Sometimes it's 5, sometimes it's 3, depending on how well you do it.

I usually include a paragraph in the beginning of the post saying something along the lines of "hey, I'm sorry for bumping this old thread you guys but I saw nobody even bothered to mention this..." as an excuse for necroing an old thread.

Some old forum posts get a bunch of traffic every month.

The best forum posts, of course, are the ones that are still relatively new.

But those are not many in the niches I've chosen. Hope this helped shed some light on this method.
