Are Backlinks Really Dead

Do backlinks work anymore? How about X-Rummer or SENuke? Looking for opinions on backlinks and if they are worth my time. I am trying to figure out the best way to market my niche garden site - besides blogging and FB Ads? I have read a lot here on BHW about backlinks. Some claim to be able to get DA of 30 or higher. Thoughts?

Backlinks will never be dead. What's dead is PBNs that don't cost more money and time to build than they are worth.

Build up a site's backlinks organically by providing value. If you're going to buy backlinks, don't buy them from a forum like this one. Manually search for established websites in the desired niche and contact them about buying a link. If you're looking for cheap links that won't get you slapped...they don't exist.

Whatever garden niche your website is in...search for that niche on Google and find blogs about your niche. Don't worry about DA or PA or any of those stats. If the blog shows up on Google for a given search term and it's on the first 3 pages of search results, that means Google likes their site. Contact those sites and ask them to buy a permanent link. One of these links will be worth more than 1000 garbage links you'll find from a backlink seller.

You could do that, but I prefer to do everything manually. You want a link from a relevant site that Google likes, and you find these sites with a quick search on Google.

Backlinks are (and will be for many years to come) a major ranking factor.

I think the issue with your lack of results in regards to backlinks have to do with the way you´re approaching linkbuilding.

Personally, I am a firm believer that the best linkbuilding strategy is a solid/effective content creation and promotion campaign.

I personally think that getting caught up in a domain's stats is counter productive. You don't want a link from a domain with good stats...you want a link from a domain that Google likes. The whole reason stats supposedly matter is for their value and their value is based on how much Google likes them. If the site ranks high on Google for any relevant search term, the link is valuable.

I agree with you 100%. But what do you do when you are up against giants not doing it the right way with millions of links?

of course, it has to be a niche relevant site. I am suggesting the check the domain backlinks and it's anchors then the content of that domain. If You are getting backlinks from the domain which ranking high in google is really good for the website. But it's pretty hard for if someone maintaining multiple sites. I respect your opinion, but in my opinion anything other than organically occurring backlinks and backlinks from manual outreach to genuine established sites is guaranteed to get you slapped. Maybe not today or tomorrow or 6 months from now...but it will happen. You want to build a long term money machine...not a time bomb.

Of course, You will succeed with these strategies, there is no second thought. But the question is, can they wait till that google recognize it. it will be a good plan only you can wait with patience without taking any back step till you reach the top ranking. But only a few people are available in IM with that kind of patience level

Don´t get discouraged whenever you´re doing keyword competition analysis and see a DA70 site with 100,000 links sitting on position 2 of the SERP.

Remember that Google ranks pages NOT domains.

Sure, it helps a lot whenever you´ve gain authority Google will index your content a lot faster but, in the end, it´s all about the page.

Run an SEO audit of that site and, especially, check its backlink profile.

Plenty of times I´ve seen 500 wors articles and most of those backlinks come from web 2.0 properties and .edu/.gov emails.

Whenever I see a result like this on Google I get excited because it can turn out to be a huge opportunity.

I´ve seen it over and over again.

Sites with a DA of 20 outranking a site with a DA of 80.

Just because a much better SEO health and content that best fulfil user´s search intent at the same time it gains the interests of "linkreators" (Brian Dean´s term).

I have so many websites (lead gen related) that get links from so many places that have nothing to do with the niche or city that I am targeting, this whole topical thing is just another SEO myth like content is king or blackhat doesn't work anymore...

@OP of course backlinks still work and they will work for years to come.
