Free alternative to HotJar

Guys, I'm loving Yandex so far and I'm grateful for the recommendation but have you checked whether your page speed load time doesn't suffer after putting the Yandex tag in <head></head>?

I've noticed that my pages load slower and Google's PageInsights show the Yandex code as one of the main reasons for the slower load time.

I was hating my load times with Yandex so I use HotJar mostly, the free tier is good enough until you have real traffic.

So the load time issue is real. I'm now torn between having a higher speed load time or better insights into how my users behave. I can't afford any paid plans yet.

You don't have to constantly record user sessions.
Study what you need to and take it off.

Hey @ThaiDreamer !
Are you looking for a heatmap or full analytics alternative?
Have you found a viable alternative yet? As it seems Yandex is slowing down your site which is not ideal...
And since your budget is restricted maybe the open source movement can bring in some interesting features!
Clickheat is open source heatmap option...
Matomo is a fully featured open source analytics package (easily replace Google analytics and own your data) but I believe the heatmap and session recording plugins are premium...

Any tool will slow down the site

Any tool will slow down the site
Unfortunately as marketers we have no choice, we need the numbers...
So we need analytics tools...
Obvious that any tool will slow down the site... but some more than others... (again testing will tell how much)

As a marketer, you should probably know that Metrika is better than the tools you suggested, and it's free (as OP requested for a free alternative). You suggested a paid too with a $19 subscription and some unknown tool that only provides a heatmap, which is again, not a 'good' alternative.

I don't want to start a discussion but the tool I suggested is an open source tool, so it is free, exactly as your wordpress installation comes at no cost (off course you always have to pay your hosting service) It is only if you choose not to host the tool yourself that you can run an instance in the cloud for the mentioned $19 (and more) subscription...
I have no experience with Matomo so can not give my opinion on which tool is better... To me this is a less known tool, it does not mean it is inferior but I take your word on this.
As Metrika seems to slow down the OP's site too much, I suggested an open source alternative, since I have never compared the server load of the tools so unfortunately can not confirm which one has the biggest impact on page loading speed.

I will say it again, every tool slows down the site. When it’s inevitable part of the process it makes sense to you the best. HotJar is much more than just a heat map, so among the suggested tools the only alternative that holds all the tools under one roof is a Metrika.

Following this thread, thanks guys for mentioning some other superb tools similiar to Hotjar. So far I also have been using Hotjar mainly for the recording and as their free plan allows only 300 recording total have been constantly deleting the recordings that are useless to keep going. Hope the other suggested software like Yandex metrica has no limitation as such since I am yet to try it.

Can anyone recommend a source to get the Matomo Premium Bundle for free (nu.lled)?

Thank you
