Need Advice On A Graphic Design Package.

Hey BHW!

Since I took IT in secondary school, I adopted a passion for graphic design and not to toot my own trumpet, i think i'm OK at it. The one thing I need help with is getting a GFX design package. I want if possible to get my hands on Adobe Photoshop, and if possible buy it outright or pay per year. Can anyone recommend a package that would suit me, so I can start designing? I would really appreciate it, as my parents are very supportive of the idea of me doing graphic design and i'm very passionate about it.

Well, for graphic designing there are in fact many software both free and premium to get you started. To name a few:

1. Adobe Photoshop (Best Choice, Moderate to use, Cost $20.99/mo)
2. Adobe Illustrator (Highly recommended, easy to use but expensive at $31.49/mo)
3. Corel Draw (Easy to use, best for 2d printing, Cost: either lifetime box in $ 500 or annual subscription $ 20.75/mo annual payment)
4. Adobe Indesign (Good for designers but has limited functionality, Cost $20.99/mo)
5. Inkscape (Free open source and easy to use)

P.S: You can also get free cracked versions of these softwares on torrent sites but there are some safety-related & piracy-related considerations you must be aware of.

Photopea is a great free alternative if you have decent internet. Its a browser-based graphic design tool that can edit photoshop, sketch, XD and Gimp files with layer support and a similar UI to that of photoshop. There is also affinity designer which is a really good alternative with a one-time price. I think they have a three-month trial going on right now.

Depends a lot on the kind of things you want to design, but the Adobe suite is very well rounded up. Corel is a bit more precise, but doesn't feel as professional as Adobe.
Start with Illustrator, make a profile on fiverr, make a giveaway on bhw and do some logos. From that, you will find out how to use mockups, maybe create your own mockups and you will be learning Photoshop in the process.
Get some after effect templates and play around with some logo reveals and learn to make your own. Integrate them in a video, following Premiere pro tutorials on youtube.
The thing is you cannot know what you will like, if you don't try them out. You might end up making 3D architectural models for oculus rift presentations, or stick with logos and get so good that you own a super niche of logo designs.

Adobe Suite is the best option you would ever find. In the whole package, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is the most used software for graphics designing.

I moved over to Affinity Photo & Affinity Design.

Both one off fee sub £50 I got mine for 24.99 each one time payment. Does everything photoshop / illustrator does no monthly fees, no resource hogging. I made the switch about 5 years ago not looked back! .ai and .psd both supported and can be exported to both formats!

When it comes to animation such as banners.. it sux since it doesnt have the timeline thing.. you need then premiere or after effects to do the animation. For static images ... Its cool and cost effective.

Agreed if you want to animate gifs then it's not the right tool. But then there are better things out there for that anyway.
