What niche to choose?

Hi,
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that making websites with an affiliate (Amazon that reduced payouts, casino sites) is a very competitive niche and revenue goes down each year. So, seems there is no sense to start. And CPA niche has the same problem.
All these methods were brilliant between 2008-2016, but not in 2020.
So I have a feeling that today we should start looking for something new, something with a low level of competitors.

Do you think making websites to work with Amazon is still a good idea?

Maybe you could own promote your drop-shipping niche (as long as you create a worthwhile set of money sites around certain niche)

Most drop shippers nowadays are fulfilling orders with an awkward profit (like $15 for a $20 product). With a couple of orders per month, you will completely blast Amazon Affiliate with ease. But if you have a thousand niches as many have, then, unluckily, Amazon or Aliexpress affiliates are the only alternative.

I think it's an awful idea. It's a nasty industry, unsustainable and full of crap. It's not the kind of place you'd want to work in an offline job, so I don't think it's a good place for an online job.

What the new methods/niches did you successfully tried?

Opening a real business seems to be sustainable. For the niche and product, it will have to start with you :

1. Which social, industry, or professional group do you belong to/have belonged to, or do you understand VERY well ? Whether dentists, artists, engineers, students, yogis..
2. Out of these groups, keep the ones who spend money.
3. Brainstorm and find a clear problem this group has, which you can solve easily. For examples in university, I could write a A-grade essay in 1h30 when it took a week for others, I made a ton of money selling essays.
4. The main solution/benefit should fit in one sentence: "ipod = 1000 songs in your pocket". Simplicity is king.
5. Make sure it costs customers $50-$250, above that they will need a lot of attention
6. When you have your product/service, write down a FAQ. Imagine someone is arguing with yourself and being very disagreeable, and you prove yourself wrong each time. Speak out-loud with yourself if you have to.
7. Now you have your product, your pricing, your market, and your sales script.
8. Use the internet to promote your product, to your market.
9. Profit

I have programming skills to build website and SEO skills to promote it. Skills are not perfect, but it is enough to build something good I think.
The real problem is that I can't decide where to direct my energy.

Don't forget that whatever you do in the online world, you have to overdo everything you do to stay ahead of the game. So it's best to choose a niche that gains your interests as well. If you already don't like the niche you pick, you are going feel tried and bored in the middle of the journey.

Personally if it's another possible stream for where you could potentially make some money why not give it a try. It all depends on the niche you target. Even in some SEO threads, everything comes down to keyword research. SEO is harder today too.. arguably harder now than it has ever been before. People don't just quit on SEO because it's difficult.. they keep grinding and working at it until they realize some success.. basically even though it sucks and it's hard, people don't just throw in the towel.

If the Amazon Affiliate program wasn't worth it and people weren't making money, do you think the program would continue to operate today ? I agree that they have reduced commissions, but I don't think Amazon is worth it unless you're targeting higher ticket items where the commissions are larger. It the target product isn't at least $300 or more, I wouldn't even take a look at it.

Have you done any competitive research to try to identity low competition keywords. Additionally, there are plenty of vendors around here that will create DFY Amazon sites or will target low comp keywords for you through their services so you don't have to invest the time.

For me, I can't fall into the camp that AA is not worth it. Keyword research and niche matters in the success of any Amazon strategy.

I understand that. Here is a nice example.
I put all my energy to build a website about the game. No day-offs, work 7/7 about 2-3 months.
Site become the top 3 most popular. But I have only 2000 users per day, and this makes for me 30 cents per day with AdSense.

I'm trying to say, that I like the game/cybersport niche and I can get top ranking. But I can't find the way how to monetize that.
All niches that I found are pretty old with big competitors, but something new I can't find.

Ways To Find A Niche

• Go on eCommerce websites and check out the category section. It'll give you ideas.
• Use a Reddit tool to find a random subreddit. Each subreddit can become a niche of its own.

After you find a niche, try breaking down into something more specific!

To answer your question:

Amazon affiliate is not dead. It just takes a lot of hard work. You will give up and you will want to succeed. It's all part of the process.
