I mean with every brand I have, instagram / pinterest and even facebook seem to have some kind of organic growth .. twitter is so different, it seems like you have to earn every follower you get ..

My question is, is it worth it ? it seems so much work needs to go in growing a twiiter account, is it worth it afterwards ?

In my opinion, it's not worth it unless you're a large company with loyal followers or a huge national or global brand.

It's just a cesspool of people complaining, arguing, and tweeting to companies or brands because they're not satisfied with something.

Never have I ever thought to myself "this company doesn't have a Twitter account...I'm not going to use their service!"

That's true too ..
And seems to me that people follow very specific brands / people ... it's harder to gain followers than instagram / pinterest / facebook ..

it all depends but its a two way street and you need to play with your follow gaining methods but im having great success with it just takes trial and errors to perfect it and the traffic is pretty good quality so you can most def. get sales from it

twitter is way too hard now days. getting suspended within 50 actions a day.

I personally also dont like Twitter as not too easy to get organic traffic to your salespage.
Pinterest/Instagram rocks

what do you mean?

like take extra steps to not get banned like warm up accounts properly / use proxies in the same region the account was created / dont abuse the limits and slowly scale from there ( people want fast results without waiting it out and then they get banned )

A lot of twitter followers are fake or dormant

I've been running some Twitter Ads, and based on how pathetic the conversions are, I'm thinking it's mainly bot traffic I'm getting. Not suggesting Twitter is running a botnet, but the platform is probably so overrun by them that I'm paying for garbage traffic. I had very tight targeting and was only going for tier 1 countries and the conversions were horrendous.

I just don't see it as a terribly effective platform, even for ad dollars. It's probably great if you only want to build brand awareness because the impressions, engagement, and clicks are comparatively cheap, but I'm not sure I'll stick with the platform for conversions. I'm going to test a few more offers, and some lead magnets to see if I can get anything to stick, but overall it's bad.

Sadly, I didn't expect it to be this bad. I bought traffic to a Shareasale offer so I have little visibility into the analytics to determine the traffic quality (time on page, pages per session, bounce, etc). That was my fault though. The next few tests I run will be to properties where I have analytics access.

Thats exactly how it is I think Twitter needs to be reduced by a factor of at least 100 for penetration

In short.. not worth it. I agree with you.. that it seems like you have to earn every follower.

Twitter for us has become a way for customers (under 30) to contact us as a support tool - pisses me off.

I've found like all social media platforms unless you need it the ROI to grow organically simply isn't worth it.

From a personal standpoint twitter is also going in a direction I don't like, so id rather not use it.

Twitter don't care what you do as long as you sign up to their paid promoting

This is so true. I've purchased ads with affiliate links pointing directly to the sales pages with no issue. Ads are approved almost instantly.

They. do. not. care. They want your ad money.

No other social platform lets me do this. Of course, it's been a thorough waste of money for me so far, but I was blown away when I saw the ads they were approving. They want that stock price to go up, and up, and up.

Their video views are even worse. Obviously inflated. Compare to youtube and you will see. One is fantasy the other reality. Anyone relying on twitter to promote a business is going to be very let down

Wrong.

They DO care when the viewpoint expressed goes against what they believe in.

Don't want to go political but to say they don't care is wrong.

I was talking about the commercial side of it. I think Twitter itself is no bad thing for sharing news, politics and as a great comms tooll
