Suddenly increase in direct traffic

One of websites suddenly start getting direct traffic (10k) in a single day. Traffic source in is googleapis dot com. I read some articles where people says this is spam source.

Please help me to make sure.

How to get rid of this spam source?

I used to think that my website is being spammed big time too, but then I realized that I have massive traffic spikes right before major holidays because a few pages on my website are distantly related to shopping.

The traffic is coming from a spoofed source - googleapis.com - which is a Google owned domain. He can't just contact Google and ask to stop, as it's not Google who sends the fake traffic.
