I've got a 7 year old content site that I'm ready to start taking seriously. I've got ~1600 backlinks (300 referring domains). I would like to start building backlinks to my homepage and inner-pages steadily as I continue to push out new content. All that said...

I have no clue where to start in terms of strategy. If I purchase 5-10 links to start...my thoughts & questions are below:

  • Do I point them to 5-10 different pages?
  • Do I point half of them to the homepage, then the others to inner-pages?
  • Should I do all naked URL anchors?
  • Should I use exact match anchors?
  • Partial match anchors?

I appreciate any direction you guys can give me.

LOL, you pretty much answered your own question with all those questions!

Lol, they're all different tho! Do you think I should get 10 and do 5 to homepage with naked anchor and split up the other 5 to inner pages with exact match?

Why buy backlinks when you can create your own PBN network? I've purchased links with success here, but in hindsight i'm not sure if it was worth the risk.

Aren't PBNs really complex and $$$ to start and keep up and running? I have only read about them briefly - no footprint, keeping content fresh, etc..

Also, from a backlinking standpoint, wouldn't you need 100s of sites to make it work?

everything your asking is all computation related.

if you don't know your niche or competition you always fail.

you can read on here but specific competition information would be needed to give a full audit.

I think it best you read on backlinking and SEO optimisation to go forward.

for now lookup
parisite backlinking

Plenty of guides here on creating your own pbns.

Point the backlinks to your inner pages since Im assuming you already built a fair amount to your homepage

just build brand anchors to your homepage if you are just starting out.

I have no help to offer since I'm new but that sounds like a pretty sick site you got sir.

Do you mind telling how much the monthly income is or how many articles you have or average wordcount? You got all those backlinks from white hat? That's inspiring. Nice work.

Also, with 1600 backlinks do you even need more? I guess more is always good but that seems like a ton lol some people above are saying you are just starting out but if that's the case then what the hell am I doing :weep: lol

Thanks for the kind words. Before the advertisers cut rates so much, we made over 1k per month from ads...about $250 from Amazon affiliate. We have ~70 pages of content (small relatively speaking).

We saw a 70% drop in revenue when COVID-19 started and it's slowly climbing back. Amazon also cut their affiliate commission in half from what we were making.

Once your site starts getting actual rankings and authority, you'd be shocked at the backlinks you'll pick up.

I'm doing this because I've never done it and I want to see what happens if I'm intentional about my link building.

@Flea Market SEO,

You already have backlinks on an aged domain. So first audit your existing backlinks and identify the good backlinks. From these backlinks make a list of backlinks you can further powerup.

Now get backlinks from your top 5 competitors, put them into an excel sheet and weed out all useless backlinks. Try to get backlinks on domains where your competitors have their backlinks.

And finally get better more stronger relevant backlinks from other authority websites (real outreach and niche edits).

Most importantly, be focused on building relevancy through content and backlinks.

As far as your questions are concerned:

Do I point them to 5-10 different pages?
Link your homepage first to add in more authority and then link to inner pages.

Do I point half of them to the homepage, then the others to inner-pages?
Majority to homepage and few to inner pages.

Should I do all naked URL anchors?
Anchor text depends on the link type. Make use of naked, branded as well as generic anchor texts. Study your competitor anchor text ratios and have better one.

Should I use exact match anchors?
Go for brand name followed by exact match and LSI. Avoid using only exact match anchor texts.

Partial match anchors?
Yes. Again study your competitor anchor text ratio.

Hope this help's.
