Hosting Reseller Package

I was thinking about setting up a Hosting Resller account and I have two questions:

1. Would you give it a thumps up or a thumps down and please provide reasoning IE over saturated, etc.

2. What company is affordable, RELIABLE, has a Cpanel, auto billing system included, and has other bonus features.

I'm curious to hear personal experience.

I was looking for euro server, fast and with real uptime guarantee.
First, take few days (10 days), and watch the host uptime.

Seems like HG has a pretty good deal going , I looked at a few other companies listed in this particular forum and couldn't find anything that was comperable.

well, I have 50GB disk and 5000gb bandwidth. 10/100mbps.
no limit domains, cPanel, softaculous, and usual shits from cPanel.
20? per month.
Response from datacenter 24ms from France to Croatia.
No one beats that.
I had hosting from one datacetar in Germany, also very good, but much slower than this one in France.
LOL, probably I will never use 50gb and that bandwidth, but it keeps me happy

I have a reseller package account. I do not use it for reselling, just for hosting my sites.
Some companies which offers reseller packages, limits the number of maximum hosted domains. I do not have such limitation.

I bought a reseller hosting package about 6 months ago, and my plan was, to build websites for clients and host them on my own reseller hosting account (ie. reselling the hosting to clients I built websites for)

It is a fully brandable package, with Cpanel hosting, auto registrations, auto billing etc. and unlimited everything.

But to be honest, If you want to run a hosting business, it takes a lot of work.

here are some things you need to do before it is all set up:-

- set up the front end of your site and link it all together
- set up your hosting packages
- set up your payment gateways
- set up your welcome e-mails
- set up other e-mail autoresponders (renewals, support etc.)
- set up a support system (either a ticketing system, an e-mail or a phone number)
- set up terms and conditions, for the site usage, for the hosting and for payments, refunds etc
- write a privacy policy (and have a solicitor look at it) an off the shelf, or downloaded privacy policy is not enough, you hold people's data, you need to be extra careful with it.

you need to run it as a business, reseller hosting can be profitable, of course, but I think you need to invest time and money in it.

if you think about it, you need to be on par with the other hosting companies, the companies that have sales staff, support staff, admin assistants etc. you're only one guy, that's a lot of workload for one person.

one more thing, When I was looking for a reseller account, I did my research, and one of the most important factors in a hosting provider is their level of support, if you cannot provide that level of support (I know I can't do it alone) then people are not gonna go with it, they're gonna go with the big boys.

Thomas, I was considering doing something very similar to what you were doing and yes, I have considered some of the stuff you said but yet others I have not.

As supporting is priority, one particular option on I thought of was either pitching a a line such as... "in order to cut costs we do not offer live support but do respond back to emails within less then 5 hours" or finding a reseller hosting package that does provide live online support for your customers, and that option is available with some reseller packages.

On another note, the only thing I'm affraid of is competing with the Giants - I for one was willing to shell out an extra few dollars just to protect my information as I'm sure others are as well when beginning on the internet.

Furthermore, I think the only people that might jump on the offer for 2 dollar hosting is someone doing something illegal and using a prepaid or gift card so they pay upfront for a year or 2 which is chump change when you consider the return they'll get.

Overall, it is still in the beginning phases but I am not affraid to pull the trigger and start a rehosting package. As of right now having discussed the issue with a few people it seems like something that is more difficult to persue vs. other things.

Yes, with regards to support, The host I am with has a massive support database, and my clients will be directed there before they send an e-mail or support ticket. (the support database is also white label and brandable.

The reason I got hosting is as another feature to my existing clients. Like I said, I build websites for small businesses, and then host their website on my reseller hosting package.

These business owners don't know anything about hosting, I don't even give them access to the cpanel. I give them access to the CMS and their webmail accounts, that's it. So I manage their cpanel- ie. they pay me for any changes, updates etc.

I have not resold hosting to clients other than my website clients. I was thinking of doing cheap wordpress hosting, but that market is pretty saturated by now.
