Hello, I have recently coded a new website that i want to do some SEO for. I have no idea what SEO is and i frankly have no time to learn how to do it myself, so I would like to get someone to do it for me.

What i dont understand is that, do i just message the people selling on SEO packages and they'll get back to me about what the site is and how i can market it/what edits i can do to improve its SEO ? something like that?

i dont have tons of time to invest on this so i just want to pay someone to do it for me, and i dont know which forum post to go to.

Just be careful, tons of sellers with zero knowledge. Don't always trust reviews. First get some knowledge of what is SEO and how it works, if you care about your money.

Just paying people sporadically will possibly just lead to wasted money. Also getting someone to completely manage your SEO can be pretty exy depending on the results that you're needing as well, as well as the niche that your site is in.

There's other ways to drive traffic to you site as well which might be worth considering, and a lot of people here provide both SEO services and services for help with getting paid traffic and social media traffic as well.

Even though you don't have much time to spare it's definitely worth doing some researching into internet marketing before buying anything IMO, even just a relatively basic understanding is important because you could end up spending months paying someone and being told that it takes 6 months to see traffic come, only to find that after 6 months and onwards you still have nothing coming to your site and have wasted that 6 months and the money you paid.

Sometimes getting direct traffic is a better option, and this is almost always the case to begin with considering that if you've just built and indexed your site it's going to take a while to even be able to get SEO traffic from Google coming to your site in any significant way.
