What is the best PHP editor for beginners...

I may not know too much on the subject but why (as a beginner) would I choose PHPStorm over its free alternatives such as VSC or Brackets?

I am not stating VSC or Brackets are a better option but, as a beginner and someone just looking to get into HTML, CSS, and JS so I can read through WP themes codes, improve a site page loading speed, add small customizations to a WP-based site, etc., I don´t think PHPStorm is a better alternative than those.

Any particular reason for choosing php? If you are not heavily invested in wordpress/drupal i would advice against learning php. (choose C#/Python/Java instead)

If you are set on Php, phpstorm for sure.

I am not set on PHP, I couldn´t care less about PHP or any other programming or framework language but, since I work almost exclusively with WordPress sites because that´s the CMS most used by my SEO clients then, I go with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS.

I am currently learning those NOT so I can be able to build something from scratch but so I can understand how a WordPress-based site works, be able to read through the code and improve its page loading speed.

I would like to also be able to add small customization to the sites as per requests and NOT rely too much on on-page builders like Elementor, Divi, or Beaver Builder.

I also just started using Oxygen because it doesn´t bloat a site´s code as much as all those other page builders but it has a much steeper learning curve and also requires you to understand the basics of CSS and JS.

In regards to the editor, been using Visual Studio Code, and thus far I really liked it. I think I will keep it for now.

Perhaps I should´ve started with this on the OP but I wasn´t even sure back then (almost 7 months ago) what I wanted to do or what did I had to learn in order to achieve my goals.
