Not really into sales trashing but most of those offers require you to verify yourself as a student, meaning that you'll need to provide documents or identity verification to prove yourself that you're a student of that university/college.
Do you in any way take care of that? If not, you really should state it in your original post so that people just don't run to buy it and later face verification problems.

If you get disabled for any reason - yes. you will lose your data because you have no access to it.
These drives should not be planned for long-term storage. only temporary.
