Making Money with Job Board Platforms

I've tried to build a job board website before.

I don't think it was very good.

I am thinking using one of the existing platforms would be more professional.

I have come across a few like HiringOpps, Smartjobboard etc. But they are quite pricey.

Has anyone used platform like these and made money? Is it worth the cost?

Also I am completely new to this, so I don't have clients or candidates etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, it depends on what you are doing and what your goals are.
Many of us use Fiverr or similar things like that.
Personally I've been using Fiverr for a while with good results.

Yes of course, I found my paid internship and my first job through a job platform. And I made money in both cases.
I think it's like anything, if you half-ass it, it's not worth the cost.

My goal is to make money.

Things to note, I am not a recruiter. I don't have a business. I don't have any candidate CVs. I don't have any employer contacts. I just want to make money.

Can it be done?

The worry is, I had already built a job board website, using WordPress and installing a job board theme. I couldn't make it take off.

But not I am looking at things like HiringOpps, Smartjobboard, jobboard.io. Could these make it more possible to actually get people to use it and make money?

Also what are your thoughts on this?

Right there is your problem. You failed not because of WordPress and the theme, you failed because you couldn't make it take off. How would switching platforms be any different in the outcome of your success? They won't.
