Is web design dead?

A really good designer/developer will have no issues getting business. In fact, a good designer will be able to turn down plenty of work and choose what projects he want's to work on. My long time designer has more work than he knows what do with. The reason for this is, he's really good at what he does. A lot of designers I've used in the past have the same issues. They aren't very talented when it comes to design, they don't understand CRO (conversion rate optimization) and usability, they don't understand SEO, and they have issues hitting deadlines. If you can overcome everything above, especially being really good at the actual design, you're ahead of 95% of all design/devs out there.

Hi guys,
I have my own company since 2014, where I create websites, logos, posters banners for local people. I'm also working in another 9-5 company. In my country salary is like $500. I earn couple houndreds more with my company orders but thats all. A Wordpress site in my country cost like $120-200 which I'm making like one per quarter max.
I think, that creating websites is no longer in need. People prefer to create a social media accounts, which are free, and promote themselfs there.
What about USA? Is there any visible demand on the graphic designers services? Yeah Fiverr... That didn't went well for me. Other alternatives maybe? Should I try.. idk dropshipping?
Cheers.
Website is not dead mate just have to include people needs to your website. Look around what people needed most include it to webpage you will see the difference

Bruh, it will never die. If you have high lvl skills you may enter platform like fiverr just to freelance. In CIS countries there are a lot of good employers who are ready to pay u well for your skills. Just create good portfolio which will include your best projects, thats all

Far from true in my opinion.

My recommendations:

Learn webflow (were the big bucks are heading)

Follow industry leaders and mentors such as Flux (he just launched a pretty sweet course) and ChrisDo

Work remotely

Never let a day pass without you interacting, scheduling calls and meeting people

Specialists have not written such a site builder so that web design will die

Web design is far from been dead, social media is what’s going down recently quite frankly..

I have a lot of very high profile companies and celebrities as clients. I would say custom websites, so if you know how to code makes bank, but yeah if you're just doing templates and stuff not worth. We quote about 3-8k per site plus maintenance. We get a lot of request for sites but we also have a lot of experience, the right network, and portfolio.

The low end there is not much good paying work but some people still spend $$$ I spent a few k a few months ago on a design

My personal issue with hiring designers is that I never know, if I am paying for some creative genius, or are they just ripping me off with a theme they bought or ripped. It is ultimate dilemma and while it doesn’t matter in the end if you like their work, I still felt scammed every time I discovered that they just used something already ready-made and charged me 3-digit per hour like they are reincarnated Picasso and not just HTML butchers... Where things really being to fall apart is when you ask them to iterate several design ideas. That is where the creativity evaporates for most and copying is a guarantee! This happened in some other design area, not web-design, but I assume it is the same for web-designers. It is very hard to churn out high volume of ideas consistently.

And don’t fall for “creativity is a talent” mantra. Every decent designer I ever worked with copied a lot and struggled with creativity and had to train hard to maintain it. I don’t believe creativity exists as a God-given trait and is more a product of experience and practice of how well can you imitate and merge imitations into new creations. It gets propped up to justify high prices, that’s all.
