question about using old content i had online in 2014

hey, in 2014 i used to have a blog with original content i created, backlinks etc. I let the domain expire but now i just purchased the domain back and the backlinks are still active. I still have an old backup with all my articles so here is my question. Is it considered copied content if I put it back on my blog since the content used to be active in 2014 with the same domain? is there any chance of penalty or im good using it and re-ranking it and putting adsence on it?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Google give priority to the original publisher where the content was first seen? That is if someone has managed to steal the content and publish on their site, if the original publisher/domain re-publishes that content it will be the original and other posts will become the duplicates?

I read something like that a few years ago, but I might just be talking BS

In theory but if an authority site steal your content most of the time it will outrank you. In op case, the site was totally dead and not indexed anymore, different situation

3 years back I was looking for some filler content on Wayback and found a site with articles which were a joy to read.
Ran through Copyscape ( which I used back then ) and all 6 out of about 20 I checked had been lifted onto a different site.

The original domain was for sale, so I snapped that up and rebuilt the site and sued the original content.

Site is still live, the content is still there and the site is ranking.

If I really wanted to be nasty, I'd send a dcma against the other site to Google and the site owner.

looking at wayback the last data collected was from 2014 when I had the domain, from then to now it seems nothing was registered and collected by them. any other ways to check domain history?
