Add-On to posting in download categories.

I would like to propose an add-on to the rules of posting WordPress plugins and themes in the download sections.

If you post a plugin or theme, your intent should be to update it when a new version is available since it is vital for people to have updated plugins and themes in their WordPress websites.

If you do NOT have that intention with your share, you should not be allowed to post a WordPress plugin or themes.

Any thoughts on this?

People share what they want and what they have at the moment. They are not and they should not be obligated to keep it up to date. I am totally against this idea (no offense @RoiBox).

I can see your side of it, and as I said, I think that it should be a posters intention to update it, not obligation .. Only reason I wrote this proposal was that I see members that share a lot of plugins and themes and have no intentions from the start to update them, but more sharing for exposure.

I don't think this is correct. You can not force someone while giving it for free.

As @MisterF said, if the download link no longer works and there is no new download link provided by the original poster, feel free to report it and it will be closed.

It is not about the download does not work, it is about having the intention to update when a new version is available for security reasons. Some share plugins and themes with no intentions to update to newer versions.

So what should be a normal timeframe for closing a thread then? And the behavior of creating exposure by sharing a lot of themes/plugins should be ok then?

The reported thread is going to be closed as soon as a member from the staff gets his hands on the report from the moderation queue.

I know the rules, that is why I started this thread about an add-on proposal to the rules.
