Dropshipping Journey to a Consistent $100 per day

Hi All,

I gonna start a thread here to keep myself accountable. Feel free to contribute, critique or make suggestions.

Who am I?
A white collar dude that's gonna try to make extra cash.

Where am I now?
Product Research.

My take so far:
Essentially, I am still researching products to understand what is in demand, what people are looking for. I will also need to keep in mind any upcoming shipping policy changes, such as increase in prices for e-packets and shipping delays due to trade tension and COVID-19.

The current question that I have for myself can saturated products still be profitable. Not can it take you to the moon, but can it be profitable. Provided that you have a decent ad and a decent UX for your website. At the moment, all I see are lots of competition.

Anyways, I'll try update this thread daily or semi-daily (if that is a thing).

End Goal: Develop my PPC / marketing game and make extra income. Also I have no marketing or PPC background.

If you are using Chiniese supplier be very aware of shipping delays, especially now. After refunds and chargeback you might not even have any profit left at the end of it. So try to look for product that is highly profitable or only scale campaign that is highly profitable so that even after some refund and chargeback you can still be profitable at the end of the day.

The only advice I have man is look at youtube videos of people that have done it and take the bite. I probably wouldn't know much more than you

Since my first post, there hasn't been much progress.

I have determined a couple of niches that I will be entering into. I am going to be looking at all the competitors in the niche and see how good their websites are. I'll be keeping this in mind, while looking at how I develop the websites and whether I am capable of bettering them.

I have determined a set of products that I want to sell in each niche. I will be comparing the suppliers from each of those products and iteratively go through each supplier, looking at their reviews and understanding whether they are legit.

I have noticed I have to keep myself emotionally checked out in this process, and not get seduced by potential opportunities ($$$). Stick with key objectives and be real (ie. highlight all negative points as well as positive)

Try and have some level of differentiation else you will have difficulty building something sustainable and most probably scaleable if you are just dropshipping the same products everybody else is.

Yeah, I agree. I think that's what I have been having issues with during the product research. It's hard to determine an upcoming trend without being personally involved in a niche (e.g. if I like UFC, I will have a decent amount of understanding of what potential trends are gonna do well). And this isn't an information found easily without trial and error. So I might be testing within a niche.

UPDATE FOR DAY 2/3:

I expect myself to be a bit busy tomorrow with other things. So this is "Day 3" update (probably doesn't make sense lmao).

Identified a niche. Just cross checking the suppliers of the products within the niche. Basically trying to ensure that they appear legitimate (e.g. ratings) and have reasonable shipping policies/costs. The Supplier for now is Ali-Express. Considering having a couple of products to advertise, and maybe fill it up 10-20 products within the niche to 'fluff' up the store and allow opportunities to upsell / bundles.

There is no purpose to re-invent the wheel. If you are traditional, there will be nothing for you here. Try different and you'll win.

Until you figure out your usp and differential, you will struggle to be successful.

So unless i can customise products to create something unique, i dont bother selling them.

Keep in mind that if you look for suppliers who have stock in USA you should ask them firstly
Because the most of them say yes and they use some fast shipping option that being very slow actually.

This is worst time to start dropshipping lol. But maybe it will get better soon. But I mean do it,you will learn something meanwhile unless you did it before and know how to convert even in bad conditions.

Update: I have been very busy the last few days so I have not had the opportunity to delve into this as much as I would like. With that being said, I have just been researching my competition. Looking to investigate whether their websites are amazing or poor, and whether they completely dominate this product. If they do completely dominate the product, with advertising and website, I am going to replace that product from my niche and go through the same process. This should be an iterative process.

Next step will be to compile photos of the chosen products and identify whether I can advertise with the products with the existing images, or do i need to take additional photos. Or maybe I should test first before I jump into product photography?

Ideally, I would like all copywriting and images ready to go when I have the website developed.
