You were not supposed to be promoting your services in that section in that way, which is why your post was removed by @BassTrackerBoats. You are only allowed to promote your services like that in the marketplace or in the Want To Buy or Hire A Freelancer subforums.
You normally would have been given an infraction for selling outside of the marketplace, but @BassTrackerBoats decided to be lenient with you.

I noticed the OP of that thread incorrectly created it in the lounge. I moved it to the general social chat subforum a moment ago, but the same rules apply there: you can't advertise your own service outside of the marketplace. That rules been around the forum longer than BTB.

All good on that end though either way as I don't take that personal nor do any of the other staff members.
Look, humans make mistakes but in your instance I am 99% sure I did not and germane is a word I use in everyday life.

From the member point of view, this could be beneficial, however, from forum/mod/business it has more con's than pro's.
A good example: AdSense is the most popular ad network in the world and they do not provide any kind of support or option to speak to a live representative. There is an option to send a request via form that 99.99% gets a generic reply, you can speak on the support forum to other users who are no google reps, but that's basically it.
This all done for a good reason - people like to talk. 90% of times these conversations are useless and time-wasting.
When user will see that his thread/post/response was deleted by X mod this will result in this mod having a message from this user - and what's the point of that? So he can explain he didn't mean that but meant this? This could be done with support.
Leave the mods alone!

I will support both the things mentioned in the OP.
Users should be allowed to mention other contact details. If someone is saying PM me. Members should provide other contact details too but it should not be a website , there are places like homepage for your website, your signature space is for that.
Limiting to a single contact detail these days will kill the business opportunity, @BassTrackerBoats I feel sticking to the point is great, but stick to a single contact detail is dumbness, because people ask us about multiple contact details so why not mention them. If it is not an out going link how it is spamming?
Exception is BABA ji sort of post.
It may be possible that forum is lacking advertisement revenue and so focusing so hard on spam advertising and all. Then, it is just a business funda and many JR. VIPs will suffer in upcoming days.

I 2nd this @Zwielicht, this will have multiple benefits:
- The member who get infraction will know who to contact for review(if a mod gave an infraction, he/she will know that a Super Mod is to be contacted)
- Members will learn from other members mistake, they will know "What to avoid", this will in turn lessen the work of mods in the long run
- There will be less threads like these
