To clarify.

Guy posts he wants XYZ product or service and asks to PM him.

PM him.

Guy asks to buy XYZ product and you say you offer that as well as ABC product that is advertising.

Common sense, Folks. If you want to earn the person's business do what they ask.

We almost never warn but rather send an alert in those instances but if one repeats that they will get a warning.

If you want to sell to me, sell on my terms and if I want you to Skype me (I'll never do that of course) Skype me.

If I want you to PM me, then please PM me.

If I want you to draw a picture of a monkey and post that to let me know you can serve me then please post a pic of a monkey.

Ok, that makes more sense now. Thanks for the clarification.

BTW, although this thread was created due to an alert, a PM exchange and then a warning about my Modding, I, and all the other staff members, appreciate the commentary in here.

It is after all the subforum, Forum Suggestions & Feedback, and without input from the community we would miss things and not do a better job as staff.

We all welcome feedback and suggestions as to how you, the community members who make up BHW, think things can be better.

Edit: nothing personal at all with the OP - again, suggestions are well past welcome so please don't think I have an issue with him or anyone else as I moderate as charged and serve the forum at the pleasure of the Admins.

This is useless, if someone gets a ban/infracrion they get notified. If you post gets removed you get a message about it. (Automated). You don't need more arguments about why your shitty post got removed..

Threads mostly don't get removed and if they're removed you also get a message as why or if a moderator has edited it and replied to it.

Honestly how many moderators do you think BHW has to deal with the daily crap that gets posted here..

Morning spam of CBD, baba-ji, crypto... Threads moving because of wrong section.
Pm selling while not allowed.
BST approval.

It should be considered , because it is possible the person making recommendation is some how getting commission. Until and unless it is asked for recommendation in the op

Nah, it is pushing it.

If someone is asking for a
domain seller i would tag @Nargil
a writer, i would tag @hasan7707 and many others

And few people recommend me on programming related threads.

It is a win win situation. I'd be pissed if there is such a rule.

Rules shouldn't limit the community aspect of BHW.

You are thinking about yourself, what about other coders aren't they good. What about other domain services aren't they good. May be you aren't paying to the referrals but many do favors and commissions.

So, until reference is asked in my point of view it is purely spamming. I will not point any specific user but I am facing loss due to these recommendations that are indirectly or directly beneficial.

There is a difference between shilling and genuinely recommending someone. Being a member here for years..We have an idea who are expert on things from the contributions they make here. Plus previous experience from buying/using them.

It is a win for the client's side too. If few people recommend the same person - there a good chance that person is good at what he is doing.

It is insane, I have to argue with you on this. LOL.

Not really as the community knows if someone is helpful or not.. 99% of whole bhw would mention @Festinger if it is something theme related. Due to his BST threads and his giveaways.

If someone is using a good hosting with zero downtime they would mention that person(without getting anything out of it.). You are being petty and overthinking that there is grand conspiracy here.. go earn some money buddy and leave to forum as it is. Need to know someone about proxies? @proxygo it goes like that.

Don't know any of the two on personal level just know them through their contributions

Well , you are thinking so. I won't say recommending these two guys @Festinger and @proxygo is bad, I too will do so but if it is asked.
And ,If it is not spamming, then also I am happy coz it will be another better tool that I hadn't in my mind.

It would entirely kill the incentive to even be bothered posting on the forum, helping newbies out and making a name for yourself, if your service can't even be recommended in a sales thread. That would BHW even bigger noob show than it already is.

Also, people who post "I want to buy buy" threads and do not have mental capacity to use search function, aren't really much of a buyers.

I get tagged a dozen times a day, whether it's "help me out" post or "looking for domain" post. So I can be tagged in one and can't be in other? I can help out for free, but can't have any incentive at all from doing so?

Logic behind this is non existent mate.

By this logic, free members should not have any incentive to post in the forum whatsoever, as they cannot sell anything here anyway. I don't think there should be any incentive for posting. Rules should be rules, and should be same for everyone. My two cents.

I am adding this logically with last post of the BTB. Reply what is asked.

Asking questions and getting them answered is not a benefit? Okay.
