Hey guys!

It's me again with another journey thread. I'm working on a website in the music niche and my other journey thread is about writing articles. The thing is that I do music reviews and listen to albums a few times before actually writing an article. This means that I can have a side-project in parallel. Hence this new and totally different journey.

I actually started everything a few days ago. I ordered 10 designs and uploaded them on Redbubble, with no success of course. I then created a Spreadshirt account and uploaded the designs there as well.

My plan is to eventually sell shirts on Etsy with Printful. I would have started there right away, but Printful got hit really bad with the coronavirus pandemic and their shipping time is terrible. I'll wait for everything to get back to normal and switch to Etsy or simply add my designs over there as well. I will send the traffic to my stores using Pinterest at first.

What I did so far:
  • Ordered 10 designs and uploaded them on both Redbubble and Spreadshirt, but I feel like I'll focus on Spreadshirt for now. So I'll let my Redbubble account rest for a while, unless I see that it starts getting organic traffic.
  • 9 designs were approved and added on the Spreadshirt marketplace. I'm waiting for the last design to be approved, hopefully it will be tomorrow.
  • I created over 1000 products on Spreadshirt and spent my day sharing them on my Pinterest account. I will probably need to find a way to do it automatically, because it's a huge waste of time. I'll think about it later.
  • I got a profile picture for my store and my Pinterest account, as well as a header for my store. It's all set.
  • I did research on Etsy to find winning products and found 25 other designs. I already asked my designer to make something similar but different, of course. I should get them within a week.
  • I bought Socinator a while ago, with 10 pinterest accounts and a mobile proxy. I've been paying for them for months without using them at all. Let's not waste more money and use them from now on. I originally wanted to use them to grow Twitter accounts for my other project but life got in the way and I let everything there.

Things I'll do tomorrow:

I would start tonight, but sharing every single product on Pinterest took a lot of energy out of me. :D So tomorrow, here's what I'm going to do.
  • Organize my Pinterest boards and add sections to make everything clear and simple to browse.
  • Do some keyword research. Pinterest is not a simple Social Media website, it's a powerful Search Engine. So I'll be doing keyword research and optimize my boards and my sections around them. I will also create a few templates of keywords for each type of product. Then I'll hire a VA to do the copy/paste on every single Pin.
  • I'll change the profile pictures and descriptions of the 10 Pinterest accounts I bought and create a few boards for each one of them.

Expenses:

Let's pretend I just bought Socinator and the mobile proxy, to make it simple.
  • $35 for the designs
  • $9 for Socinator
  • $10 for a profile pic and a header
  • $7 for a VPS
  • $1,6 for 10 Pinterest accounts
  • $45 for the mobile proxy (which is expensive, I think, so if you know a good mobile proxy provider for pinterest accounts, I'd be more than happy to know about them)
So far, I spent a little bit less than $110. I would appreciate it if you could recommend me another mobile proxy provider. I would use the money to get more designs and scale.

My goals:

I hope to be able to make a living out of this journey. But let's do it step by step.

  • Goal 1: $5 a day.
  • Goal 2: $10 a day.
  • Goal 3: $30 a day.
  • Goal 4: $50 a day.
  • Goal 5: $100 a day.
  • Goal 6: $100 + a day

I hope everything goes well.

First update:

So, I started everything from scratch again and here's why... Redbubble and Spreadshirt are pretty hard to work with because there are a lot of designers and your designs are most likely going to be burried in their marketplace. I wanted to sell shirts with no profit at all so I could be the cheapest and appear right away when people sort by price, which would help me go from "New" to the "Trending" tab and eventually in the "Best selling" tab. But Spreadshirt's Marketplace doesn't allow you to change the price, to give everyone the same chances of selling I guess, and Redbubble doesn't have an option to sort by price, from what I can see. So the best way would be to bring traffic to my store with SEO and social media traffic. It's exactly what I'll be doing, but on Spreadshop!

So here's what I'm doing now. Instead of uploading on Spreadshirt's Marketplace, I'll upload my designs on Spreadshop, which is a store that is hosted by Spreadshirt but that gives you way more freedom. I can change the price of the products to wathever price I want and I can also offer coupon codes for a discount or for free shipping.

So here's the new plan to which I will stick until I see if changes need to be done: upload designs, share the products on my main Pinterest account, repin the pins from my main accounts to the 10 children accounts that will do follow/unfollow and send a message to every new followers to welcome them and offer them a coupon code to my store as a "Thank you for your support". If it works, I can easily scale by adding more designs, increase the amount of follows I do daily and add even more children accounts.

Now, instead of adding 20 designs a day (which is the limit set py Spreadshirt), I will upload 20 times the same design and create a template for each type of products. The reason I'm doing this is because optimizing each pin is just inhumane when you can create 2000 products every single day. And sharing 2000 pins a day is just dumb and not natural, anyway. So I will put keywords in the title of each type of products, so each pin is already partly optimized for Pinterest. I'd just have to add a few keywords in the description of the pins and let Pinterest do the work for my pins to rank, so I don't just rely on the Follow/unfollow method.

Anyway, that's the plan, and that's what I started doing today. I feel like it is a smarter way of doing things.

Good luck and how much you're paying per design? Also, from where you got your designer?

You spend too much. Learn how to design in photoshop. Do paid/free advetising on FB groups and instagram. Try to reduce your expenses as much as posibble.

Following this i also want to start with POD

I pay $1 per design. It's not complicated designs, simple typography shirts that are selling well right now and that I reproduce. I change a few things here and there and add a few twists. The designer is from Fiverr. I ordered a few shirts from him and the quality was as good if not better than the examples I sent him.

Well, except for the proxy, the bot and the VPS, everything will be a one time expense. I just need a cheaper mobile proxy provider and my monthly expenses should be ok. It would be cheaper than one or two Instagram shoutouts, for instance. I know a little bit of Photoshop, and my initial plan was to buy templates that I could edit myself so that I could make a lot of different designs from one single template. But my computer is pretty slow and Photoshop is hardly running. I think that paying $1 per design is incredibly cheap and my time is better put in something else.

Where can I buy twitter and pinterest account?

I got mine from @EmailMaster

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/high-quality-accounts-hotmail-facebook-pva-tumblr-twitter-youtube-ect.641439/

I still have to profile the Pinterest accounts and perform actions with the bot, but I could log in right away without any problem. When I used their Twitter accounts, I had to confirm that the phone number the accounts were created with was correct, and I didn't have any problem and could log in. But I never used the bot after that. So all I can say is that I had no issue using these accounts to log in, no phone or email verification. We'll see when the bot starts running, though.

Yes, and you can also see what trends on Pinterest. They added that function a little while ago.

New Update:

So I received the designs I ordered and I uploaded most of them on my Spreadshop. So far, I have uploaded 23 designs in there.

I have two more designs in the making, I should get them by tomorrow. One of these designs is a 4th of July design that sells well. This would be my first attempt at making sales with trending events and celebrations. The other design is a simple typography design that sells well too. This one I can easily edit it myself so it fits lots of different niches. We'll see how it goes!

But the exciting news is that I litteraly just made my first sale!

And the funny thing is that it's not on Spreadshop (since it's not online yet), but one of the designs I uploaded on Redbubble in the very beginning. I forgot about Redbubble, but I'll spend the rest of the day uploading every design over there as well. And instead of focusing only on Spreadshop, I'll upload my designs on Spreadshirt as well! I just have to click on a button, actually.

So the strategy hasn't changed, but I'll add more traffic sources. Here's the plan from now on:
  • Upload designs on Redbubble.
  • Upload designs on Spreadshirt.
  • Upload designs on Spreadshop, promote my shop on Pinterest and drive traffic using the Mother/slave method and sending DMs to followers with promo codes.
  • Wait for Printful to be great again and add Etsy as a platform.

It's just the beginning, but the motivation is getting stronger!

So you uploaded the designs to RedBubble, didn't touch it, and received a sale? Isn't POD wonderful? :)
