I don't do it these days and much of it was outsourced. Low comp kws along with forum posts (since it was tech related)

No you will just look like a spamming and besides Google can tell links that are coming from comments so don't focus on it for link juice. Here is what I do... if I tumble onto a piece of content that has a lot of comments I jump in and comment because usually most of the other commentors with jump on your link and visitor your website.

Here an example I'm on John Chow's email list not only because he gives good content but he has a huge email list.. so when sends out an email about a post he just made I try to be one of the first to comment what this does is allow my link to get lots of hits from other subscribers engaging the blog post. I've been doing that to popular blogs for years.

There was a time when this worked a little too well!
There's no reason not to do it today so long as your comments are adding value to the discussion on the page. If you're merely there to add a link, there are better ways of building links.

From my experience the links themselves are worthless.

However, the relationship with the website owner that you can foster by commenting can be useful. I have gained two valuable links on DR 60+ blogs by engaging with the author over comments. You need to be genuine and write something of value, simply writing anything in order to gain a link is pointless.

If you didn't spam and the blog comments come with the flow of content means it will be good. But don't expect any kind of dramatic changes with the blog comments. It can be used for diversity and tiered link building.
If the blogs have real visitors it may help you increase your traffic whether it is nofollow or dof0llow. It all depends on blog quality.

It you're using SCRAPEBOX or some other heavy automation, it MAY be worth it if you have a QUALITY distribution list you're posting to AND you're posting in volume - it's a numbers game.

BUT...

If you want BETTER RESULTS, I suggest posting REAL COMMENTS and build REAL RELATIONSHIPS
- not only do you get backlinks from your posts you can also get guest post or even content collab opportunities.

Posting REAL credible and useful comments take more time and effort but they PAY OFF BETTER if you're actually looking to build up a BRAND
