hey folks,

I published my movie site 2 weeks ago, now i have a competitor with the same domain name as me and i have hard time surpassing him when i search for my domain name.

I did on site SEO and continuously building backlinks that point to my homepage, and
currently im stuck on page 19.

no matter how many backlinks i add my position doesnt change, only 2 days ago i moved to page 14 and now im back to page 19 again

ive added edu and bunch off 2.0 and high authority links to my site and also made sure they were indexed, also when i compare my competitor to me, i have way more backlinks then he does.
yet im stuck way behind and cant move forward.

What about domain history and age? Probably the competitor domain is more authority for google. Just make some high-quality content and research for new high authority links to increase a stat

I've started quite a few sites before and after the May 5th update. Anything made after is in some type of steroid sandbox. Only time will tell.

i dont know wtf is going on anymore, my homepage dropped even further to page 21 now.

homepage is now behind my subdomains which i never promoted

You have to be patient for some time. Google takes some to recognize the new sites and backlinks. You have added a bunch of backlinks within 2 weeks, that's not a good idea though. Go slow and steady.

I always felt like link velocity really isn't that valid. Let's say Ellen DeGeneres released a new website tomorrow. How many backlinks would she get within 24h? And would she get penalized? Just an example. :) Would be interest on peoples take on this.

If you have established sites or your sites can bring crazy traffic in the begging itself means there won't be any problem by adding a bunch of backlinks at a time.

But for a new site, if you are adding many backlinks that don't convert any kind of traffic means there is no use at all.
Still, you want to add many backlinks for a new site means, I would suggest you go for the backlinks from high traffic sites.

well anyhow only thing i can do now is wait, occasionally when i have free time i add few backlinks

i wonder how much time it will take for google to recalculate

It’s been 2 weeks.

You have not done SEO in 2 weeks.

Continue and come back in 6 months.

And stop sending spammy shit links to your site.

2 weeks? Please be patient... 2 weeks for a new site is nothing... Also don't spam it with links right away it's not going to do any good for your ranking, quality links matter.
