Left my 9-5 job today

This has been in the works for almost a year but today was my last day of employment. I left a 6 figure white collar job and will be initially taking a cut in pay as I ramp up business. This is a pretty big leap of faith for me.

My self employment gig is not totally IM. I have a consulting gig lined up as well as a few clients for IM. This change will also allow me more time to focus on my IM projects as well.

They tried to hold me. I actually gave notice in February. The kept making me offers to stay on but I turned them down. I stayed on long enough for them to find a replacement and transition them into my position.

Definitely not the best timing. But with the consulting gig locked in, my current financial situation and a steady and reliable income from my wife, it was a good time to make the leap.

I would like to document a journey thread. A few months back, I was planning to doing some test studies and publish it on here. But I just couldn't find the time. Now I should have the time to do these things.

I was mid level management for a medical device manufacturer.

I have been doing client IM for over a year, off and on. The consulting gig is for one of the marketing clients. They are an inground pool company and have more leads and work than they can handle, as a result of my marketing. Their leads have increased almost 1000% over previous years and are experiencing severe growing pains. They need help managing this growth and will need some management consulting.

Congratulations! This is a very important decision.
I myself did this 4 years ago and do not regret it at all, although during this time there were a huge number of difficulties.

Okay your decision is courageous. I truly hope you have enough money saved up to invest in your online business.

I hope you were able to build a large responsive email list because that's really the asset you need to have a running business online.

I also hope your wife's earnings and the possibility she might also be laid off is pretty slim.

I believe you did not just make this decision out of impulse and it was rather planned out perfectly for the worst case scenario.
