I have not done any more work on this project, mostly monitoring that files are getting processed and uploaded. Instead, I've put time into another project (adult site) that utilizes a similar transcoding script to download Mediafire, Mega and Veeosync files and then puts a playable video on my site. Quite basic so far but planning on making a fully-fledged adult site out of it.

Subscribed to see how it goes. About the SEO part, I think you should focus on it as well. I am talking with my personal experience. I was thinking of using gdrive, but I don't know how to use it on my sites with the limits removed and the links hidden.

I can't wait until I can start with the TV shows.

I will start working on the backend today, will figure out if I can manage to do decryption whilst the file is streaming to the server. Think I can manage to finish the backend streaming side of the website in a few days, have done a few video streaming projects in the past so it's nothing that difficult.

On a side note, the adult-related project is live and had 54 users yesterday with bare minimum sharing done. I'll leave it as it is and see how it'll be in a week or month, it has videos automatically added to it constantly so hopefully users have a reason to check back. Testing two ad providers on it.

  • At this point, I'm going to start implementing TV show downloads as it seems the whole process slowed down quite a bit due to a lack of seeders.

I've done some changes to my server-side logic which will probably decrease costs quite a bit. It'll also be less prone to abuse by any competitors. Got to think ahead.
If there's any OG's that can suggest to me some off-shore hosts that'll be great. I have some planned but I'm still open to suggestions as I'm not yet that close to launch.

As a full-stack developer i have the same idea, never went to deep about it.

I think the main problems are:
The place to get or store the movies\tv shows and link the subtitles (to all!)
Not worth since there are some good website in the niche and they are popular.

Storage is a big issue yes. Hopefully, my setup will last for a while.
True, there are already popular sites in the niche but I'll have something they won't and I hope that'll make me competitive. I haven't talked about it yet nor do I think I will for the foreseeable future. If anything - this can also be a learning experience.

From some of the marketing and advertising experience I gathered over the years, I think you underestimated the importance of it. To make money in the movie niche, you need a significant user base, and for that, you need to stay ahead of the competition and heavily promote and rank your website.

As you said in the reply above, there are already many popular websites in the niche, and you will need to put your (hopefully better) solution in front of them.

I know you are still not there and you are in the process of building things out, but a good method I can recommend is getting ahead of the curve and tracking movies that are going to come out and become popular, start ranking for them early and start building momentum before they are even out. You can even set up Google Alerts for as many terms you want, and get notifications when a question is being asked. So if anyone is searching where to watch Avengers movie, you can snoop in, give a recommendation to your site, get some referral traffic + a backlink to help you keep ranking.

As for the adult, I got a bit of experience there. Go heavy black hat on there, no rules, huge user base, you can snatch a lot of traffic by not playing by the rules.

I've not done much SEO for any of my websites - yes I've done minimal sharing and obvious SEO optimization to the pages but other than that nothing. They have all grown organically and become semi-popular just how I like it. I do agree that it could probably double if not even triple my income but I've never been into SEO. I make my sites easy to use and have many unique/new features that the competitors don't have, that's always been my trump card. This project is no exception, there's literally no competitor that has a feature that I'm planning and is 100% doable.

SEO shilling is my only weakness.

Good to see the progression bro.

There are some shitty site that still outrank the better ones, marketing does play a big factor. For example, in long term, quality always beats in competition, but some users will never know the other sites other than the one they are using. Marketing changes that.

But I believe you can go big with this man, your collection is already impressive, keep it up. It's all bout the journey and learning as you said.
