As a lot of you might know, Income School promotes the idea that KW search engines don't show the actual data and can be wayy off while showing search volumes.

How many of you actually agree with that?

I agree. Most noobs need to start websites only based on what the Google Search Bar shows them and not get paralyzed. There are some goldmines to be found there.

On the other hand, a FREE and fast loading tool like Keywordtool.io will help you silo your site by creating the correct categories so it would be stupid not to use both those tools in combination with each other. My 2 cents.

They're all approximates. Can't blame though.

I agree that these are not actual data but they are good to get estimates to begin. I use mangools tools and most of the time, I hit the right keywords in combination with keyword planner

Yup they are but Income School claims that they're way off. I don't remember the exact thing but they said that one tool suggested that "Best Jet Ski" gets only 2000 searches per month and that's not even close.

But they did say that some tools are good.

Search volume data in most KW tools is often way off - so I totally agree with that.
But tools are still very useful - like G.Trends.
I also like Keywordtool.io and SEMScoop.

I use Spyfu and SEMrush. Both give me a pretty good estimate of volumes and keywords used.

Got mixed feelings about it. Some suggestions that gives most services are almost useless. But generally it helps in SEO.

I used to be able to predict updates using my nose.

I'd get this funny itch 15 days before G updates.

Now I rely on semrush.
What is your opinion on the SEMRUSH keyword difficulty metric? It is so different. I can't make sense of it since most of the time it's in the 80% range for keywords that are below 10 in Ahrefs or below 35 in MOZ.

How would you use keywordtool for siloing?

I recommend SEMRUSH and AHREFS. These are very helpful when it comes to getting the right keywords. :)

Can you explain your process for using both? I am guessing they are good at different things, but can you please explain more what each is good for and why you use both?

For difficulty, it's not all that hard to see by hand.

Do a search, if the results are very specific and on sites that are about that topic, it's going to be hard. The more the the harder.

If the results are things like quora, reddit, forums, etc. It's likely going to be relatively easy to rank for those search terms.

Yeah looking at the serps and checking backlings to pages tells you alot and should always be done. But it seems to me Semrush has a pretty crappy keyword difficulty metric,to the point you should ignore it. So then I am thinking what is it good at, what does it do better than ahrefs since you check both? More accurate volume and better keyword suggestions or?

I use Keywords Everywhere. When you search it on google it gives you related keywords and sometimes it really helped me.

None of those tools have a complete view of WWW data. Gotta use at least two and draw conclusions.
