Does your payment gateway charge VAT for you ?

There are many payment gateways, but only a few handle VAT for you (collecting it and remitting it for you).

Does your payment gateway automatically adds VAT to your prices ? (it probably means they handle the VAT thing for you because they act as resellers and merchant of record)

If yes, which payment gateway are you using ?

That's absolutely not what I've heard about Stripe...

And even in their site, they mention:

"When making charge requests, Stripe does not automatically calculate any tax information for you. The amount you specify must be the total amount to charge the customer, inclusive of any fees or taxes that they should be charged. This will need to be done manually, or you can build support to include taxes in your charge request amounts in your integration's backend."

So they don't take any responsibility about it, you have to do everything manually and they don't act as resellers.

Okay so you meant "a payment processors that calculates the VAT rate, determines to VAT category, and adds the price to the total automatically"

Your question was if it adds VAT to the total amount, and it does on stripe when you set it up. I don't know any payment processor who decide the VAT amount automatically, it would be a pain since the rate changes based on certain criterias.

I'm just asking for payment gateways with that feature mate, I have my reasons to ask for it, thank you for your good intention

And in my opinion, anyone selling digital goods (it will be the case also for physical goods soon) to various countries, including Europe, should care about VAT at some point

If you sell a lot, go register for MOSS. It will be much cheaper on the long term. As I said yesterday, register with multiple companies. There's no company that has all the features you want.
